Has someone ever said something to you and when they did you tilted your head like a puppy, furrowed your brow, and thought to yourself, “They clearly were NOT thinking when they just opened their mouth.”? Or maybe you felt like punching them right in the face. This happened to me recently. Actually, it was twice in one week. The same person made two comments about two people that I treasure and I clearly did (or wanted to do) the two reactions above. (No punching ensued.)
In Proverbs 29:20 we read, “There is more hope for a fool than for someone who speaks without thinking.”
Now, my aforementioned “frienenemy” (at that time) isn’t alone in this department. Unfortunately I’ve probably (actually) had my share of “open mouth, insert foot” syndrome. Oh, the heartache/troubles/ill-feelings we would/could/should avoid if we will just THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.
Let’s take it a step further and make sure we think before we not only speak, but before we DO.
Blessings and God’s abundant love to y’all.
