“Don’t kick a man when he’s down.”  There are some people who take pleasure in doing just that when others are at their lowest.   This isn’t a new terminology that was thought of for our times. It has been around for quite some time.
In Psalms35:24b-26a David penned the words, “Don’t let my enemies laugh about me in my troubles. Don’t let them say, “Look, we got what we wanted! Now we will eat him alive!” May those who rejoice at my troubles be humiliated and disgraced. May those who triumph over me
be covered with shame and dishonor
.”  David was feeling beaten down, laughed at, and at a low point in his life.
In Mark 15, we read about the horrific experience Christ went through.  People were “kicking a good man when he was down.”  Not only was my Lord kicked, but He was flogged, made fun of, dishonored, struck in the head, spit on, mocked, and then crucified. They even released a murderous man to be set free instead of The Man who did no wrong.
Have you ever felt this way? Have you felt like people are walking on you at a low point in your life? Possibly during a season of your life when you’ve done nothing but good, yet you still feel defeated.  Well, this may happen a time or two in your life, but hold fast.
Psalms 35:27-28 continues and says, “But those who want the best for me, Let them have the last word—a glad shout!— and say, over and over and over, “God is great—everything works together for good for his servant.”
Later in the book of Mark we continue to read HIStory and shout for joy when Jesus rises from the dead and lives forever. Hallelujah!!
Lametation 3:25, “The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him;”
Luke 21:19 reminds us also that good things come to those who wait.
Number 18:20, reminds me that God is all I need. There will be mockers and troubles in this world, but they will pass. When you feel like you have nothing, remember that He is all you need.
In the book of Numbers this morning, I also am reminded to “Give God your best.”
Again, you may not be able to give others your best at times, especially when you are feeling beaten down, but always give God your best….then He will take care of the rest.
