We often read, hear, and state from memory Jeremiah 29:11. But what about those verses that follow it?
It was pressed upon my heart today to read and soak in some more of God’s goodness in verses 12-13. I ended up reading the entire chapter to gain the whole perspective. Once again, I found God’s word to be of peace, comfort, love, and true. He never disappoints.
Take a look for yourself:
“Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will search for me, and when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:12-13
I like how The Message translation writes verse 13: “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”
Jeremiah 29:1 informs us that, “This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.”
Listen, you may not have King Nebuchadnezzar holding you captive right now in your life, but you may have something or someone else trying to keep you away from God’s goodness. You may even like the situation you are in. But, boy oh boy does your Heavenly Father have some of His awesomeness waiting for you.
Don’t just dab your toes in the sea of seeking the Lord. No! Jump in with all you have. Even if you’re a little bit afraid leaving the security of dry ground. Go for it! Jump in The Living Water and allow Him to soak in.
Call out to Jesus, go to Him, pray to the Savior, and do this with ALL your heart. Get serious about finding God. Like the Lord says in the Good Book, He’ll “make sure you won’t be disappointed.”
I pray God’s abundant love and blessings for y’all.
