This evening I came home feeling defeated. I knew I had to get back to work while at home, but I also knew that I had to have my mind set in peace and confidence in God first.
So before I began “getting back to work after being at work all day”, I rested in God’s goodness. I needed to be refreshed.
Ahhh. Satisfaction. Here’s where God led me:
Last night I made some homemade chicken-n-dumplins. MmmmMmmm good. I used a family recipe and rolled the dumplins out with my granny’s rolling pin. Those dumplins sure were satisfying to my soul. They were made with the traditions of family, love, and great memories as well. (I’m getting a smile on my face just thinking about them.)
Those dumplins weren’t the only thing that was and is satisfying my soul. God showed me these verses to go along with my “dumplin’ theme”.
- “He satisfies those who are thirsty. He fills those who are hungry with good things.” Psalm 107:9
- “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7
- “When I sit down to satisfy my hunger, my joyful lips hunger to praise you!” Psalm 63:5
I do feel revived now after reading God’s word. I can always trust in Him to bring joy to my soul. May God receive all glory and praise!
So when you need some reviving after feeling defeated, open up His word and trust in the Lord to give you exactly what you need. Amen!
Now, I better go get me a bowl of those leftover dumplins before I get back to work.
I pray many blessings and much joy for you! – Stephanie
I remember when you wanted to know how to make them and I tried telling you over the phone. I laughed when we hung up. Love you Honey.
Hahahaha, yes! Those drop-dumplins that my cousin/roommate April and I made in college were made with self-rising flour. When they “dropped” they were perfect, but when they boiled, they became the size of softballs. Too funny! And…not edible. 🙂
