God gave us His Top Ten list in yesterday’s readings when He gave us the Ten Commandments. There are many things we can make lists about; favorite beaches, foods, songs, people, things to do,… Today while reading and recording my thoughts, God worked it out where He gave me this Top Ten list. What is on your list to do today? Maybe you can check a few of these off with me.
Top Ten Thoughts for Today:
1) Don’t Forget God! He is the same God who turned a hard rock into water in the Old Testament and He is the same God who heals completely the deaf, blind, and dying in the New Testament.
He is the same God who has and will continue to walk with and carry you through those tough times. Yes, life is hard (as one of my sweet friends reminded me yesterday). It can be sometimes downright nasty. He will allow certain things to happen in our lives “to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.” (Deuteronomy 8:16) You know what? Be real with God. Talk to Him and tell Him how miserable you are, and also seek and remember how blessed you are by Him.
2) He has you here for a purpose. I know that that purpose is not to do His job; He can handle things just fine. We are reminded in Luke to not judge others. That is His job. Our job is a bit more difficult for us. We are to forgive. Forgive so that you can be forgiven. (Luke 6:37-42)
3) Be full of it! Full of what? Well, in Luke 6:45 He says, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” So go be full of goodness.
4) Be a wise builder, not a foolish one. Dig deep into Christ and set your life’s foundation in and on Him. Share you powerful tools and materials (God and His Word) with others. This will save you from destruction. Don’t just read about and hear about God and do nothing. That is like a man who built a home, but didn’t dig a deep foundation and got washed away and destroyed. (Oh, boy, this can be a big devotion in itself.) (Luke 6:46-49)
5) Be humble. God notices that. (Luke 7:1-9)
6) Cry out to God when you feel like life has beaten you down to the ground. He can rescue you. (Psalms 40:13-15)
7) Seek Him and be filled with joy and gladness. (Psalm 40:16a)
8) Don’t be afraid to be a cheerleader for God and shout out, “The LORD is Great!” (Psalm 40:16b)
9) Recognize that He is your helper and savior. (Psalm 40:17)
10) Don’t hate, but love. Don’t be a fool, be wise. (Proverbs 10:12-14)
Have an awesome day!
