When we go on vacation, I like to make sure the house is cleaned up before we go so when I come home, ahhh, the home is welcoming. When we came back from a recent trip I went to open the dishwasher to unload it. I just knew I had turned it on right before we had walked out the door. Boy of boy did I have a surprise for me. How deceiving it was. I thought the dishes were clean, and then I opened the dishwasher door and discovered a stench that made me want to go grab the available barf bag they have for you on the airplane. Do you know people, or yourself, that are this way? They may appear to be clean on the outside, but on the inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence? The bible says these words specifically in Matthew 23:25-26. That, my friend, is called hypocrisy. God tells us to clean the inside of us first, and then the outside will be clean. Go ahead and grab the “Joy” (and I’m not talking dish soap). Get yourself right and clean on the inside, and let others see your purity and integrity on the outside too. Happy Monday.
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
