Today is Presidents’ Day. It is a day set aside to honor our first president’s, George Washington, birthday.
It is only fitting for us to observe a quote by President Washington, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”
It is my prayer today that we, even though we are a sadly divided nation right now, we should recognize that we are Americans living in the greatest country in the world, put our differences aside, and we should unite to pray for our current president, President Donald Trump. Pray that he too will be a man of the wisdom to know that it is “impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”
We know from 2 Timothy 3:16 that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”. Join me in prayer that our president will open, read, and use the bible in such a way for himself and our country.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 says,
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” Let’s be dignified and pray for our leader in the United States of America’s high position. Be thankful for the blessings in our lives.
Pray not only for our president but also for ourselves. Pray for us to seek God’s best and no less.
Read more quotes and favorite bible verses from some of our past presidents, and apply them to our daily lives:
President Gerald Ford’s go to verse was, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Dwight D. Eisenhower’s favorite verse was, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
“If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” President Ronald Reagan.
“My custom is to read four or five chapters of the Bible every morning immediately after rising. It seems to me the most suitable manner of beginning the day. It is an invaluable and inexhaustible mine of knowledge and virtue.” President John Quincy Adams.
“I am profitably engaged in reading the Bible. Take all of this Book upon reason that you can, and the balance by faith, and you will live and die a better man.” President Abraham Lincoln
Imagine a nation that prays together. Let’s do it, and not just on Presidents’ Day.
Blessings to all, Stephanie
