Do you think God pushes the “hold” button when you want to talk to Him?
Throughout the bible people would say to God, “Hold our enemies back.”  The Israelites did not “hold” onto God’s commands when I began reading this morning in the book of Judges. The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders in Luke 20 wanted to “hold” Jesus accountable for His actions.  David cried out to God to “hold” on to him in Psalm 54. Finally, in Proverbs 12 God wants us to “hold” our tongues and speak the truth.
Hold. This little word has 38 meanings! Thirty-eight definitions depending on if it is used as a verb or a noun. Wow! I’m no word-geek, (Well, maybe a geek-for-God’s Word. LOL) but I found that interesting.
I think we need to change that above question around and ask if we are the one who sometimes pushes the “hold” button on God.
It seems that when He “holds” us it is for our benefit, whether it is used as a noun or verb.  Even though times may be tough or life is going by seamlessly, God will embrace, support, influence, occupy, feel, sustain, secure, whatever verb or noun form you need from Him, He is there.
When we push the “hold” button on God….ouch…..that’s when we need to remember that we will reap what we sow.
Don’t push the “hold” button on God or even hang up on Him. Keep those lines of communication open constantly.
Now, “hold” that thought. Haha.
Happy Wednesday!
