don't just be good enoughSo let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9
A phrase that my church recently used in a sermon series was something to the effect of, “Don’t just be good enough”. Over the past few months those words have settled into my mind and has taken on great meaning to me.
Think about it:

  • How you work at your job
  • How you study and learn at school
  • How you treat your daily walk with God
  • How you treat your family
  • How you interact with your friends
  • How you participate in a sport
  • How you do even the most mundane tasks
  • How you do…WHATEVER…Don’t Just Be Good Enough!

The bible is clear in how we are to do those “whatevers”:

  • So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • “Everything you say and everything you do should be done for Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.” Colossians 3:17
  • “In all the work you are given, do the best you can. Work as though you are working for the Lord, not any earthly master.” Colossians 3:23

I search and discovered that I’ve journaled about Galatians 6:9 TEN times! And each time, as God does so beautifully, seems to weave that verse into my daily quiet time during a different season in my life. Each time He would present it to me, it would give me a jolt of assurance, energy, and/or comfort. (Seriously! Click here to view the ten entries. I pray that one, or more, will resonate within you.)
This morning was no different. Whether the season for me now is being a mentor to someone, raising three teen/adult children, or just striving daily to be a godly example to others, God wants me (and you) to not give up! Keep thriving for Him. To God be all the glory in the end. Just DON’T GIVE UP!
