While returning from my morning walk, I hear a voice behind me say, “Your left blinker’s on.” I glanced to the right and saw a couple riding mopeds. The lady was correct, her man’s left blinker was on. He turned it off, but the funny thing is…HER left blinker was still on as well. I had to laugh at the scenario, and then the Scripture from Matthew 7:5 came to my mind:
“Why do you notice the small piece of dust that is in your friend’s eye, but you don’t notice the big piece of wood that is in your own? Why do you say to your friend, ‘Let me take that piece of dust out of your eye’? Look at yourself first! You still have that big piece of wood in your own eye. You are a hypocrite! First, take the wood out of your own eye. Then you will see clearly to get the dust out of your friend’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5 ERV
I want to encourage you to be mindful of condemning others while you have your own mess to deal with. Don’t be a hypocrite.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
While I was searching “hypocrite” on the website, this journal entry appeared from 2013. I thought it was appropriate to share with this entry:
In Matthew 6:25-7:12, Jesus tells us five simple, just often hard to do, rules to follow:
- Put God first! (Do this and everything else will fall into place.)
- Don’t worry! (God’s got this.)
- No judging of others! (Ouch! I know I don’t need anyone judging me, so I have no room to do the same.)
- Have an effective prayer life! (Ask, Seek, and Knock. He is waiting on you.)
- Follow the “Golden Rule”.
I just hope that you’ll join me in practicing these rules, so we won’t have so many lessons to be learned. Imagine if we all practiced these rules how much “kinder and gentler” our world would be.
Prayer: “Dear Lord, I love you. Again, thank You for teaching me and making me apply Your word to my life. I pray that I will focus today, and every day, on putting You first, not worrying about “stuff”, not judging others, and practicing treating others the way I want to be treated. Amen.”
(The above photo has nothing to do with my walk, but when I came across this photo of me in a tree at the beach, I thought…”Yep, some of us may have a whole tree to get out of our eye.” Be careful, my friend, don’t fall.)
What a great reminder. It’s easy to just make that quick judgement on someone else, even before I realize I’ve done it. And I sure don’t want anyone to judge me…. so yes keep a clean ❤️ and love them as Jesus tells us. We don’t know their situation. So pray for them but don’t judge them. Thank you for sharing Stephanie.
Beautifully said. Thank you for your precious and insightful comment. Have a blessed day!
