Tim recently went to The Middle Grounds, 100 miles off the west coast of Florida, with a group of friends to catch some gag grouper. They left the dock around 3:15 in the wee hours of the morning. The sky was unilluminated due to the phase of the New Moon. When he was describing the trip out to a neighbor, I was listening intently. After he finished telling his story, I said, “That’s a good devotional.”
Tim mentioned how on their way out of the channel, there was already a boat fishing for tarpon in the pitch dark. If it wasn’t for their radar, their boat could have easily ran the boat over. He gave a few inferences to obstacles in the gulf that, if it weren’t for the navigational system of the radar, there could have been catastrophes in the open waters.
Tim’s redension of his fishing adventure was in much more detail, and his words were more vivid than mine. The lightbulb above my head though turned on to the comparison that just like Tim and his buddies needed the radar to guide them and keep them away from danger, that is EXACTLY what the Bible does for us. His Word guides us down the right paths and will keep us out of danger.

The Lord says, “I will teach you and guide you in the way you should live. I will watch over you and be your guide. Psalm 32:8 ERV

Your bible sitting on the shelf or the bible app on your phone won’t assist you unless you actually open it up, read it, and apply what God’s word says.

If you wander from the right path, either to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying, “You should go this way. Here is the right way.” Isaiah 30:21 ERV

The voice you may hear, guiding you, belongs to God. Some may wonder, “How can I hear God’s voice?” Friend, you must read and study scripture. I often talk about having God speak to me through a whisper or nature or a song or however, but if whatever I see, hear, or feel doesn’t line up with the Word of God, then it is NOT God speaking to me.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 NASB

There will be moments of darkness in your life, but I pray that you will open God’s word and let it be The Light that illuminates your path in life.

Lord, I put my life in your hands. I trust in you, my God, and I will not be disappointed. My enemies will not laugh at me. No one who trusts in you will be disappointed. But disappointment will come to those who try to deceive others. They will get nothing. Lord, help me learn your ways. Show me how you want me to live. Guide me and teach me your truths. You are my God, my Savior. You are the one I have been waiting for. Psalm 25:1-5 ERV

Yes! Yes! Yes! May this be your prayer to put your life in God’s hands. Surrender. Be unashamed. Trust in Him. He will teach you. He will show you how to live. He will guide you. Yes, He. Is. My. God. (All that and more!)
Allow God to be your radar that will keep you from danger and guide you in the right direction.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie

Okay…so the above photo has nothing to do with this story, but I often get the words sonar and radar confused when conversing with Tim in the boat. Radar is the correct term for the above story, but this sonar picture was taken by our eldest, Hunter, last year of a shark swimming below in the night waters. It was just too cool not to share. Lol!
