Each time I gaze at the stars in the sky, I can’t help but be in awe of God’s handiwork. The constellations are in place, the planets often appear to our naked eye, and the movement and construction of the clouds are like God teaching us various brush strokes of art. The Universe is immense and is amazing to observe.

Yet, as extraordinary as the heavens are, YOU are God’s masterpiece. Let that sink in. YOU are sensational!

This morning, I fought the mosquitoes and intermittent clouds while standing on the front lawn, gazing west, to catch a glimpse of the Blood Moon. The alarm was set for 5:15. Wrapped in my comfy robe, slippers on, and phone in hand, I ventured outside to find the moon. The clouds were a blanket to the sky. I couldn’t find the moon, and there was little visibility of any stars. So, as hopeful as I was to view one of God’s phenomena, I closed my eyes, said a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s wonderful work, and proceeded to snuggle back into bed.

A few minutes later, I felt a nudge from the Lord to get up and try again to see this Blood Moon.

The mosquitoes were still there, but this time the moon was visible. The heavy blanket of clouds was removed to expose numerous bright stars and the crimson-colored moon. The Blood Moon was peaking above the oak trees to the west. My hands were raised to the sky praising the Lord, and thanksgiving was on my lips. Feelings of amazement for God’s creation washed over me. Then, the sweet whisper reminder of Ephesians 2:10 gripped my mind.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10

God gave me a few minutes of standing in awe before the blanket was put back over the vision of the moon.

I did go back a few more times to catch a glimpse of the Blood Moon, only to see more clouds and the sky beginning to lighten to the east. This made me praise God even more for the nudging He gave me earlier, feeling me with hope of a new day and gratefulness for His love and provision.

So God made the two large lights. He made the larger light to rule during the day and the smaller light to rule during the night. He also made the stars. Genesis 1:16

By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.  Hebrews 11:3

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Psalm 19:1

I pray that you will take a deep breath, feel God wrap His arms around you as He whispers, “YOU are my favorite masterpiece!”

You are loved. You are amazing.

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
