August 6th was Opening Day of lobster season here in Florida. We were down in Cudjoe Key ready to rumble with those so called “bugs”. A couple of days before the official date started we ventured out to scout out some lobster areas to conquer on the sixth. The other family we were with has been coming to this area for over 20 years. This was the Shuff crew’s first time to this location. The veteran family usually comes down here during mini-lobster season (a couple of days in July, prior to Opening Day) and limit out both days. We had seen pictures from their trip last year and let’s just say…we were pumped! The Lingo’s (the “veteran family”) had numbers ready to dive and we had discovered some new ledges, corals, condos, etc. to go back to on Opening Day. On one of the new-found lobster spots I had discovered , I knew we had to hit it first. Why? When I was snorkeling around searching for the bugs, I swam upon a large coral head, dove down, and discovered about 30 lobsters in that one small location! I came up to the surface and told Tim, “Mark this spot, 30!”
Opening Day approached and we loaded up on the boats around 6:00 in the morning. Someone had said the quote, “Let’s go big or go home.” Game on, bugs!
The current was strong. The visibility was okay, not the greatest, but was doable. We didn’t go to my “30” spot first (Dang it! I wish we would have. It was cleaned out by the time we got there. What was someone thinking? Didn’t they know that was “Stephanie’s” new spot?) But, luckily Tim was in his scuba gear and we ended the day reaching our limit. Go big? Yes! Go home? Once we had complete success, yes.
“Go big or go home”. When God does something, anything, everything, He does it right the first time and it is a BIG deal. “He died to sin once and for all.” The message reads, “He took sin down with Him.” Jesus got “down with His bad-self”. That’s right. He’s one cool and a let’s-get-down-to-buiness type of man.
Romans 5:10 says, “When Christ died, He died to defeat the power of sin one time – enough for all time…”
Thank you Jesus, for going big. He didn’t die and defeat sin for just one or a few. He did it for ALL of us.
The verse continues and says, “…but the life He lives, He lives to God.” Amen! When we believe and accept Christ into our hearts, we are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did. That’s the example we need to follow.
Don’t do as we did on Opening Day and know of an ultimate spot to go to but put it off until later. You will be missing out on a great number of blessings. Go to God now and live for and with Him.
Blessings to you!
