It’s your loved one’s birthday. You buy a gift and are excited to give it to them. Or maybe you give them a gift just because. Regardless of what day it is, you give it with a smile on your face. You give the gift with great delight. You give it to you special loved one purely out of love.
When I read Psalm 44:3 today, I got a smile on my face and a cozy feeling in my heart. It said,
- “It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was Your right hand, Your arm,
and the light of Your face, for You loved them.” (A maskil from the Korah family.)
In Psalm 44 this family was remembering all the truths they were told about God and acknowledging how it wasn’t by anything that they had done to receive the land, but all because of God.
I love love love the phrase that says, “You loved them”.
You know what? God loves YOU so so much! He did give you a gift. He gave you the gift of His Son. Why? Because He LOVES you!
Accept it with a smile on your face. Be grateful, like the Korah family’s maskil. Know that it wasn’t because of anything you’ve done. For goodness sake, we don’t deserve anything this grand! God gave you this precious gift just because He cherishes you.
