As soon as I saw Hunter applying the lipbalm, I knew I had to take a pic. There was a devotional in the making. 🙂

The other day while we were fishing, Hunter (my eldest) rapidly threw his fishing line out. He ended up getting what is called a “wind knot”. Tim told him to get the ChapStick ® and apply it to the knot.  This technique guided the string out of its tangled situation.
This scenario reminded me of how when we get ourselves in “tangled situations” we also have something we can apply to our circumstance…God’s word.
The bible is often a tool (or a household item) that people read: only in church, when in a situation, for decoration on a shelf, etc.  But boy oh boy how this book is something that we need not only to read, but to apply to our lives on a daily basis.
In James 1:22, we read, “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” Don’t be a fool, do what God’s word says.  Apply His teachings to your life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 validates what I just said.  It reads, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
So, go get out your ChapStick ®, I mean you bible, and apply it to your life. Don’t just wait and use it when you are in a “tangled situation”, apply it daily.
I pray God’s abundant love and blessings for y’all.
