seal of approvalToday’s verse of the day: Jesus replied, “I am The Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35.
Journaling about The Bread of Life hasn’t just occurred once in Soaking Up The Son. In some form or fashion, I’ve journaled about it about seventeen times. Please click here to go directly to those specific entries. I hope you get fed with some everyday life experiences wrapped in God’s word.
If you’ve been with me long enough, you realize that I can’t just read that one specific verse-for-the-day. I have to read it in its context. So I read the whole chapter of John 6. Oh, go ahead and read John 6:25-40. Feed yourself some of God’s goodness.
But I found myself camping on the words in John 6:27, “Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given Me the seal of His approval.”
I remember my grandparents commenting on products in magazines and purchasing merchandise that had the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. This seal is often one of the go-to signs people look for still today. People trust this company. For one reason it’s because they been experimenting and testing products since 1902, and they have a great track record. Heck, I even find myself drawing my attention to a product with that same seal at times.
According to the Cambridge Online Dictionary the phrase “seal of approval” means, a statement or sign that someone in an important position approves of something. Well, I do believe that the bible is all statements and signs that is approved by The Most Important…God. So if the bible has God’s seal of approval, I’m all in and “buying” it. His track record is impeccable.
Reread verse 27 again: “Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given Me the seal of His approval.” So what has God given His seal of approval on? Jesus Christ. Who is Jesus Christ? The son of Man. Eternal Life. What are we supposed to do about it? Spend our energy seeking Him!
Yikes! My mind is racing with so much stuff. Let me try to condense and focus:

  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
  • “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
  • Eternal life is A GIFT from God. Once you have sincerely accepted Christ as your savior and invited Him into your heart, you are His. No one can pluck you from His hands. Jesus said so Himself: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28
  • The “Christ-like-life” is not an easy one. Satan is always trying to tease you away for God’s path. We must seek Christ daily. Just like putting on an armor for battle or feeding our bodies with daily food to survive.
  • So don’t “spend your energy” fulfilling your fleshly desires and chasing the ways of the world. Spend your energy on seeking God daily.
  • You will never have all the wisdom and knowledge. Learn, grow, and share this eternal life and its journey with others.
  • Replenish yourself on The Bread of Life.

Whew. I could go on, but I’ve gotta go to work.  I apologize for getting a bit random in my thoughts. I hope that something spoke to you.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
