For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Romans 8:19

This morning I was sitting on the back porch, reading God’s word, and attentively aware of all the sounds of nature around me. I would read a few verses and glance through the slats of wood enveloping the porch each time a rustling sound came from the wooded area just a few feet from me. What critter was making all that racquet? Was it a deer or a bear?

The porch where I am sitting is on the only home within a 12,000-acre tract of land. It feels like one huge deer stand. A bear or deer is definitely not out of question. The commotion in the woods reminded me of the time when I first hunted alone. I could hear an animal moving closer behind me. The leaves would crunch under each step the animal would take. The noise sounded like it was going to be a huge animal. I was eagerly anticipating a massive deer to walk in my path. After what seemed like forever, I realized that it was a happy squirrel collecting its food and getting its daily exercise. A squirrel!

What I was eagerly anticipating for was a nice size buck to peer itself around the corner.  My anticipation was crushed. The hope of bringing home success from a hunt fell short, way short.

In Romans 8, I read about the eager hope for future glory. The bible often mentions eagerly waiting for something. Verse 21 says, But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.

As a Christian, I have confident hope that this world is not my home, that He is coming back again to take His children to their heavenly home, and that no matter that trials in life that come God has a better plan and one that is full of abundance in peace, love, grace, comfort, and no sorrow or pain.

Every morning, LORD, I lay my gifts before you and look to you for help. And every morning you hear my prayers. Psalm 5:3

I want to encourage you to turn to the Lord in the waiting. He is there.

If you are eagerly waiting on the Lord, your hopes and dreams will not be crushed. Your confidence will not fall short like my hunt. This wait is one that will be beyond your expectations.

Hold on to hope in Christ.

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
