Someone needs to hear this today:

“The Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials.”

God rescued Noah and his seven family members because Noah remained faithful in an ungodly world. He rescued Lot because Lot was righteous while surrounded by the shameful immorality of the people around him.

Second Peter 2:9 says, “So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.”

How can you stand firm in the wickedness of this world? Through Jesus Christ. He is the way to righteousness. When you choose to follow Christ, you are called to live a holy life—not by your own strength, but through His power working in you.

Let me lay it out this way. Here is a compilation of words and phrases from 2 Peter 2 that describe ungodly living:

  • False and destructive
  • Denying God
  • Evil and shamefully immoral
  • Proud and arrogant
  • Harmful and disgraceful
  • Indulging in evil pleasures
  • Stained by sin
  • Delighting in deception
  • Greedy and useless
  • Empty and full of foolish boasting
  • Driven by twisted desires
  • Slaves to sin and corruption
  • Doomed to darkness

I challenge you to examine your own actions, attitudes, and motives in light of this list. Do any of these descriptions reflect something in your life? If so, bring it before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal what needs to change and to help you live in a way that honors Him.

Second Peter 2:19 says, “For you are a slave to whatever controls you.”

Sin promises freedom, but it always leads to bondage. Jesus offers true freedom. Choose to leave behind—and flee from—sin and self. Turn toward Christ, trust in Him, and allow Him to lead you into righteousness.

The Lord knows how to rescue His people. Remain faithful, keep your eyes on Jesus, and trust Him to sustain you through every trial.

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
