Sitting on the porch, I watched as the day slowly came to an end, enveloped in the vibrant sounds of nature all around me. I leaned back, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. Peace. Calmness. Serenity. When I opened my eyes and gazed toward the west, I was greeted by tangerine hues cascading over the treeline. A gentle mist began to rise from the valley of pines, drawing me closer to its enchanting beauty. With each step toward the vibrant scene, it felt as though I was becoming part of God’s masterpiece. The mist welcomed me, wrapping me in a soft embrace of water particles, the cool dampness on my skin mingling with the breathtaking sunset. In that moment, I was overwhelmed by His goodness, surrounded by the glory and enduring love of God. A smile spread across my face as I felt the warmth of the Lord’s arms around me.
As I turned back toward the porch, I noticed the fog blanketing the earth and hovering over the pond, filling my heart with praise and joy.
Reflecting on 2 Chronicles 5, I recall how God was delighted with the completion of the Temple. The priests raised their voices in heartfelt praise, declaring, “He is good! His faithful love endures forever!” At that moment, a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord, so overwhelming that the priests could no longer perform their duties, for the glorious presence of the Lord had filled the space.
That cloud—the presence of the Lord. I couldn’t help but sense His nearness as the sun dipped below the horizon.
