YOU’VE GOT SPIRIT

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

“I’ve got spirit, yes, I do. I’ve got spirit, how about you?”

Oh, friend, but which spirit do you have?

Ponder on these words, and then decide which one (a) describes you and (b) which ones you desire to have:

  • Fear:  panic, terror, worry
  • Timidity: retiring (a quitter), cowardly
  • Power: ability, potentiality, strength
  • Love: tenderness, passion, compassion, unselfishness
  • Self-discipline: restraint, firmness, tenacity

When you are a child of God, a born-again believer, you are filled with these qualities from the Lord. Those characteristics of fear and timidity are NOT from the Lord. And if God didn’t give it to you, you don’t want it

Those not from Him dim and destroy the flame within you.

I want to encourage you to shine bright for Jesus, by displaying/using the God-given characteristics…great power, love, and self-discipline. There will come a time when you will be an encourager for someone else because of your display of God’s power, love, and self-discipline. They may see and sense a difference in you that they need to help calm their fears. Isn’t that the truth!? So many times, I have felt God give me a rush of confidence or love or compassion when someone in my presence needed to feel the Presence of God comforting them. It was totally from Him, not me! I pray that you will be sensitive to the rush or nudging of the Holy Spirit, during those times you need to encourage someone else.

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] John 14:27 AMP

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 AMP

Even when I walk  through the darkest valley,I will not be afraid,  for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff  protect and comfort me. Psalm 23:4 NLT

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
