Lately I’ve been reminded (again) about how short and precious life is.
Yesterday a precious young lady came over to just let her heart out. She had found out that day that her grandpa has unexpectedly passed away. She poured out her heart and her emotions. In one of our conversations, she said, “I wish I would have…”
I’m sure we can all finish the rest of that sentence with shoulda-coulda-woulda thoughts. Those thoughts can be dangerous, even though they are also an awakening as to how we need to live and treat others.
My daughter reminded her friend to don’t dwell on the “I wish I would have” moments, but cherish the precious memories she does have of her grandpa.
Our friend also started another sentence with “It makes me want to be a better…” and “It makes me sad that it takes something so tragic to make us realize things we should be doing in life.”
Yes, we all go through tons of thoughts in our minds when something tragic occurs. So, let’s challenge ourselves to live today as if it were our last. Don’t end your day with the “I wish I would have…”, but “I did…”. Take that phrase, “It makes me want to be a better…”, and really be that better _____, or do better at ____.
After tears were shed and memories were discussed, we also had much laughter.
Through tragedy, focus on Christ. Feel Him holding you up. There will be joy and laughter in the end.

Life IS precious. Cherish each moment.
