:  “Don’t listen to them; just trust me.”  Who said that? Jesus.   There are times we find ourselves in situations where we listen to the advice of others, when all along Jesus is instructing us to trust Him. Have faith. Have faith in Christ. He is a miracle worker.
As I glance back at my Daytona 500 story from yesterday and reread Psalm 27:14, I see the words “wait”, “don’t quit”.  Then today’s reading said to trust Him. Well, we did just that. Tim and I were supposed to head home Monday morning to avoid the after Sunday race traffic.  Well, the race was delayed until Monday, so we woke up not knowing what our plans were going to be.  If we would have listened to the advice of those on television, we would have packed up, gone home, and missed out on an exhilarating opportunity.  Rain was in the forecast for most of the day. Not a great day for racing. But the officials had hope. We decided to wait and see what was going to happen.  We made lemonade out of lemons.  We got to go to our friends’ beach condo, and enjoy the sight and sounds of the Atlantic waves crashing onto the beach. (That is something I could hear every day.) We relaxed while waiting. We ate lunch at this little restaurant dangling over the beach. We nourished ourselves while waiting.  On our way back to the mainland, we were invited to go and visit my dear friend’s mother. Her home rests along the intercoastal with an inviting and beautifully manicured backyard. Another great way to spend time waiting. The sky started to show some blue, but the radar still showed rain in the future. The next best way to wait was a nap. Ahh, yes. With still the hope of having the chance to enjoy the race and knowing that if it were going to happen that it was going to be a long night, a nap was definitely on the must do list.
Well, all our waiting paid off. What a memorable and phenomenal weekend. There were many “firsts”: our first race, the races first next day delay, the first full night race for the 500, the first uncharacteristic crash that caused a massive fire and the list could probably go on and on.  The traffic we wanted to avoid never happened. Smooth sailing.
So just remember, no matter what your situation may be, wait upon the Lord and have faith.
Have a great Tuesday (I think it’s Tuesday. Lack of sleep has me boggled.)
