I LOVE this time of year when the time changes. The sun shines longer in the afternoon and I feel as though I can get so much more accomplished. The only thing I don’t really appreciate is losing the one hour the night before this glorious time.
Well, I’m not alone. No one in my home wanted to wake up this morning for church. I started opening bedroom doors and turning ceiling fans off saying, “Good morning, time to get up.” There wasn’t any movement in any of the rooms. A few minutes later, the “Time to get up” call got a little louder. Still, the bedrooms were as quiet as a church mouse. Now, 25 minutes had passed since the first wake-up call. The sweetness had left my voice as I bellowed, “Get up now! It is time to go!” (Satan already tries to delay us on Sunday mornings. But, praise God, He always wins and crushes Satan’s plans. We were all out the door and to church on time.)  I told Tim, I need Jesus every Sunday morning here to go room to room and say, “Get up.”
Numerous times in the bible we read where Jesus tells someone to “Get up.” They do, without hesitation, and follow Him. (Checkout biblegateway.com and type in the words “get up” and discover all the verses with those words in it.)
Again, this afternoon, I needed Jesus to tell me to “Get up!”  After lunch I went to lie down and, as my pastor says, have some Toes-up-meditation. My one hour nap turned into a THREE hour nap. I woke up each hour and told myself to wake up, but my eyes decided to close and the room became dark again. Zzzzzzz. Every time I would try to open my eyes, I felt like saying the words from Proverbs 6:9, “How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?”
The thought of Jesus telling me to “Get up” came to mind. Just then the phone rang. I looked at the caller id and it said “Private Number”. Yep, I giggled and said that it was God calling to tell me to “Get up.” God has a sense of humor.
