I must say, I’m at a loss as to what to write this morning. My mind is turning to my strong friend’s (Mike Storter) words last night. (A godly man living strong as his body is weak from battling cancer.)
I read the bible passages from today’s “Walking in the Word” and simply see how:
·         We need to be true to God and others.
·         We should turn to God.
·         Do not deceive others.
·         You will reap what you sow.
·         You need to turn your back on sin and pick up your cross and follow Christ.
·         I am reminded how powerful God is 24 hours a day seven days a week.
·         When one soul is lost and is found, the angels are throwing a party in heaven. They are celebrating a new life in Christ.
I sit and think about how when many of us were ending our walk this weekend at my town’s “Relay for Life” (a fundraiser for The American Cancer Society) a precious colleague of mine, Marilyn Westfall, was overtaken by that disease and was beginning her walk with Jesus.
Marilyn had to be one of the sweetest, most giving, compassionate, faithful, and godly woman I have had the pleasure of meeting.  She has battled through her health and her husband’s health, and kept a positive attitude through it all.
When I started teaching at my current school, I started a group called Teacher’s in Prayer.  Marilyn was the first one to say she wanted to participate and we even had it in her room because the air was healthier for her than my building.  She was only able to attend two to three gatherings, but her spirit was there every time and will continue to be felt.
I know her battle has been won. Not on earth, but I in heaven.  She is strong, healthy, and dancing with Jesus now.  Marilyn, you will be missed her on earth. I’ll see you again one day.
My prayer today is for all of you to know Christ, follow Him, and share His love with others.  Let people know that you are a Christian by your actions and words. May God’s countenance be seen through you.  Blessings to you all.
