Patience vs. Quick-tempered
Peace vs. Envy
I’ve often heard how your emotions can affect your health. Some sayings are: “____ will rot your bones”, “___ is like a cancer”, or “____will corrode the bones”. These wise adages come from the bible.
Today in Proverbs 14:29-30 we read, “Slowness to anger makes for deep understanding; a quick-tempered person stockpiles stupidity. A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.” (The Message)
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” (NLT)
I’ve witnessed some people make some pretty foolish mistakes when they didn’t control their anger. Shoot, I’ve made some irrational mistakes all because I was angry or in a hurry.  Nothing good ever comes out of it.  We need to be in control of our emotions and understand situations a little more.
When you have control of your emotions, you have a peaceful heart and this helps keep your body strong and healthy.
I don’t like being sick. If you have the choice, wouldn’t you rather be healthy and peaceful or do you choose to be quick-tempered and filled with jealousy to make you weak? Sounds like another “no-brainer” to me.
One of the Fruit of the Spirit is self-control. Read the list below and strive to have this type of attitude. I feel healthier just reading it.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV), “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Have a blessed day.
