Did you clean behind your ears? What about your armpits? Don’t forget to scrub your feet good.
Remember those words from your parents, and probably you to your kids if you are a parent.
It drives me crazy when I know someone went in to wash their hands yet see smudges of dirt on a clean white towel. Really?  If you washed your hands with SOAP and water, I shouldn’t see smudges of dirt.  Ugh!
Well, washing thoroughly is something that we need to do to keep our bodies free from germs.  Think about germs as sin.  (Yep, you knew this would get turned into a lesson.)  If we didn’t wash just our hands daily, that would be a bit gross. We need to wash them more than once!
We sin daily (at least I know I do).  We need to be bathed in prayer and shower ourselves in God’s Word…you guessed it…daily! More than once isn’t a bad idea with this type of cleansing either.
In 1 Kings 5:13 it says, ‘Wash and be cleansed’! Elisha told Naaman to do this. In verse 1 we learned that, “Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.” See, “germy sin things” happen to even the famed and respected. No one is above needing a good cleansing.
Oh, you want to know if Naaman was freed from leprosy. Check out verse 14: “So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.”  Ahhh, clean like a young boy.  When you are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus), you just may feel younger too.
Acts 3:19, “Now it’s time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you”
Now, go thoroughly bathe yourself in God’s Word and in prayer and feel refreshed and renewed.
Showers of blessings to you!
