This morning I went to a meeting at school to help prepare for the week of teacher pre-planning.  Wow! It is almost that time, but NOT YET!  There is still MORE fun to be had. Not that school isn’t fun, but….you know what I mean.  So, I’m starting to get in the focus of educating again. What do I need to do to be a better educator?  How will I do things differently?  What is the best way to teach specific topics? Etc.
When I read 1 Chronicles 29-2 Chronicles 1, it retold the story of when King David was at the end of his life and his son Solomon became king.  In verse 7 we read, “That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”  Solomon answered in verse 10 by saying, “Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people”.  This soooo what I’m praying now as I prepare for the new school year.

“Lord, please give me wisdom and knowledge in knowing my material and the ability to teach it various ways, how to deal with a variety of students, teachers, and parents, and how to be the best educator I can be. I want to bring glory to You in all I say and do, Lord.  May my skills benefit my students and school to be the best they and it can be.  Help me to know when to say when and not over-extend myself (I have a tendency to do that). Help me to be a friend to those in need. Guide me to be a loving disciplinarian that will build strength and confidence in students, whether they are my own students or just those I come in contact with.  May I be of service to You in a public environment. When those times arise and I want to “fix” things on my own, get down, or be stubborn about a situation, remind me that it’s not about me, it’s about You and doing what is best to educate the children.  Thank You in advance for being my strength my rock, my support. Amen.”

To my fellow teachers, enjoy the rest of your summer and have an awesome new school year being the best teacher/parent/friend you can be to the students you deal with.  Like my school’s theme for the year…. “Be Exceptional!!”
Blessings to all.
