It’s not your birthday, anniversary, or any other holiday that would require a gift. You come home, walk in the door, and see a beautifully wrapped package on the counter with your name on it. When you read your name you are surprised and excited at the same time. What runs through your head? Is it, “Oh no, what did he do?” or “Oh, he must want something?” or “Ahhh, he loves me.”? No strings attached? Just because? Wow! This makes you feel special, loved, and all giddy inside. You are treasured. Now doesn’t that make you feel good?
Well, God has a “no-strings-attached” gift for you too. He has given you a free gift because He loves you so much! You are a special treasure to Him.
In Romans 3:23-26 we read, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are made right with God by His grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. God gave Jesus as a way to forgive people’s sins through their faith in Him.”
Who are “they”? All of us! “God so loved the world…” John 3:16
What do we do? We sin. “But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
How can we make it all right? Through God’s elegant and lavished love. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
What do we need to do to receive this gift? Have faith in Jesus Christ. “We have been made right with God because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1
How much will it cost me? It’s F-R-E-E! “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15
So open your gift and feel all giddy inside and loved!
