I was so excited the other day when I received a certain letter in the mail. It will be one that I treasure, and I want to share with you all.
My friend, Susan, has three grown and beautiful inside and out daughters. Her and her husband, Bill, have done well raising such smart and compassionate ladies. Well, now has come the time in her life when she will soon be blessed with a grand-daughter. This “grand” event must have caused her to prepare her home for being babyfied. While in the process of “babyfying” her home, she came across a bookmark that was given to her when her daughters were in high school. I’m so grateful that she thought to pass this bookmark along to me.

“I give them into your hands, Lord. Send Your angels with them, to keep them from every harm. And bless them please with wisdom and discretion in all that they do, through Christ our Lord, Amen.”

I looked up some bible verses that correspond with the prayer:
Psalm 91:11, “For He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
Proverbs 3:13, “Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.”
Proverbs 2:11, “Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”
I’m going to sit down with my teens (and Cole too) and share this prayer and these verses with them. You know, that just made me think….we tell others (children, for today’s devotion sake) we are praying for them, but do we often say the prayer to them and even share scriptures that coincide with the thoughts to our prayers? I know I’m guilty of not doing so consistently, especially the latter part. Well, today starts a new day for me. This momma is going to have a little gather-around-session today and share this with them all.
