“Such good people will never fall.
They will always be remembered.
They will not be afraid of bad news.
They are confident because they trust in the Lord.”
 Psalms 112:6-7
I read these words and my mind turns to so many strong and stoic individuals who have experienced, and some may be going through now, a terrifying time in their life.
Automatically I think of my precious friends Mike and Laura Storter.  When Mike was diagnosed and going through his years of cancer, even though their bodies (yes, Laura’s too) were weak, their faith and belief in God were strong.  Why?  They were completely confident of whatever the results may be because they were confident because of their trust in the Lord.  You can tell I admire(d) their walk of faith when you search and discover that I have journaled seven times about Mike.  Well, now eight, and it may not be the last.  I have the privilege of working now with Laura.  Her strength and calmness still amaze me, but I know where her strength and security come from…the Lord.
Right now I have a close friend who is going through a difficult time because of a drowning, and near death incident, with her grandson.  It’s been over two weeks now and little two-year-old Eric is still in the hospital with complications.  They are strong and prayerful and have complete confidence in the Lord through this situation.  (I will be giving you an update soon. Please pray for Eric and his family.)

Thank you for praying for Eric.

I truly do not know how people who do not have a relationship with Jesus make it through difficult times.  Some may turn to drugs, drinking, sex, depression, and other hopeless fulfillments.  I am grateful that God gives us the hope and assurance that no matter what happens here on earth, He has something so much better waiting for us.
One more example of not being afraid of bad news:  A beautiful lady inside and out, Mrs. Barbara Bowden, told me that when she received the news of her having cancer, she didn’t ask God “Why me?”, she simply asked God, “How do you want to use me through this cancer?”  She’s not afraid.  She’s ready to be used as a servant of God. No matter what God has in store for her, she’s confident in Him. Precious!
Do you have confidence in things to come?  Is your trust and hope in the Lord?  I sure hope so.
Don’t be afraid of bad news, embrace it and use it to bring glory to God.
Blessings to you.
