There were so many fabulous scriptures in today’s reading. But I couldn’t help but focus on a couple with my children in mind.
I know I totally used to take this one verse out of context, but I prayed it over my youngest son, Cole, quite often when he was young. See, Cole didn’t sleep through the night until he was four years of age. Yes, four! One night I said, “Lord, You’ve got to give me some scripture to pray over this boy. I’m tired.” He led me to Psalm 127:2b. It says, “He brings sleep to those He loves.” Yes! That was it. I prayed, “Lord, I KNOW you love Cole. He is precious in your sight. I’m tired, and he needs to sleep soundly. You say You will bring sleep to those You love. Please, Lord, let Cole sleep. Amen.” Guess what? Cole slept! You better believe I prayed that verse again and again.

Cole sleeps like a baby now. See, I knew God loved him. 🙂

Then a couple of verses later in Psalm 127:34 it says, “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.”Ahhh, these verse bridged both my sons together. Verse 4 went especially well this week due to the fact that we are hunting in Kentucky. Hunter, my eldest, is now into bow hunting and Cole purchased a bow and arrow set yesterday.

It was quite fitting that Hunter was going out bow hunting when I wrote this devotional.

Well, I guess it wouldn’t be very nice of me to write about my two boys and not mention Holly, my one and only daughter. Okay, a couple of days ago while reading Ezekiel 16:44 it mentioned the proverb, “Like mother, like daughter.” In Ezekiel it was a positive thing they were talking about though. But, for my daughter…nothing but the positive. Yesterday Holly and I were coming back from shopping and a movie and we were talking about all kinds of “girl stuff”. She told me that she had told a friend who is going through a tough time right now, “I know I am totally going to sound like my mom right now but…hate the sin, love the sinner.” When she told me that, I just grinned and thought about the aforementioned proverb.

My mini-me, Holly.

I treasure my children, and I am so grateful that God has entrusted them to me and Tim.
Blessings to you.
