“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
Okay, you know you want to do what I did when you read this verse. So here you go….For your viewing pleasure, click on the word “candle”: (If you are unable to view the video, all it is is me burning a candle and then putting a glass over it. 🙂

Did you see how just that one candle illuminated the dark? That candle would have burned for six to eight hours. But when I put the glass over it, it barely lasted three seconds. What happened? Its world started closing in and became smaller. The oxygen level depleted and the illuminating light went out.
Are we so different in our walk with God? The further away from God we get ourselves, the dimmer our light for Him shines.
Don’t do that. Really. Stay close to The Father and shine for Him.
Notice that in verse 16 it says, “, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” The light that shines; your “good deeds”, hospitality, generosity, etc., is NOT to bring you glory, but to bring all the glory to God.
Get your priorities right. If you need to know what or who should be first in your life, allow me to inform you…God. Matthew 6:33 tells us, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”
Just remember 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
