Are you a “Sunday Christian”?  What about a “Sunday and Wednesday Christian”?  Does God want you to just do good godly things on church days?
The story in Matthew 12:9-13 had me thinking.  Here’s the story:
Going on from that place, he (Jesus) went into their synagogue, 10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
Some people get caught up in the “law” of things.  A bit “religious” like yesterday’s journaling topic.
The Pharisees were trying to find a way to attack Christ.  That is exactly what Satan is always trying to do to us Christians.  (1 Peter 5:8, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”)
But Jesus stood up and had a realization check with His accusers. (John 14:15, “If you love me, you will do what I command.”)  He gave them a scenario that made them think about the right thing to do.
Jesus was not afraid of the outcome.  He did the right thing and healed the crippled man, no matter what day of the week it was.
That’s the part that made me think about how many people are just “church folks” and don’t necessarily live out their Christian walk on a daily basis.  No matter if you go to church on Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, etc., doing the godly thing is the right thing to do any day of the week.
Don’t just be a “Sunday Christian”, be a life-long Christian.  Remember, you may be the only bible that someone may be reading that day.
Prayer:  “Lord, help me to be aware of my attitude and actions throughout the week.  I want to do what is right in Your sight on a daily basis.  Amen.”
Blessings to you.
