When I read Matthew 27:1, “Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.”  my heart sank.
Now I have gotten up early to read my bible, go for a walk, go fishing, and venture off on a vacation.  But to get up early to decide how to put God’s only Son, the perfect human, the man who cannot sin and came to save the world, that is something I’d keep hitting the snooze button on.  What am I thinking?  I wouldn’t even associate myself with that group of people.
But let me think a minute.  I may not associate with others who would kill Christ, but I have been one that has probably broken Jesus’ heart a time or two or three or,….  Sin.  Ugh!  Those stupid things we do that saddens God.
Prayer:  “Lord, forgive me of my sins.  I.  Am.  Sorry!!  You have blessed me beyond in my life, and I want to do what pleases You. Help me to get up early to put and keep You first in my life.  I lay my sins down at the foot of the cross and desire to be more like You.  Thank You for forgiving me.  Amen.”
Do you sometimes read a verse that gives you sadness then a quick reality check?
On a happy note… 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” I am grateful for God’s word keeping me in line!
Blessings to you.
