Yes!  I couldn’t wait to read the bible this morning.  I opened the scriptures up with anticipation.  Since I’m reading the bible through in a year, I knew where today’s reading was going.
If you want a good jump start to your day, open up Matthew 28.
Here are some cheering thoughts:

  • It’s a new day! (verse 1) Praise God for new days. That sounds refreshing.
  • The power from God is evident.  What took many soldiers to put into place, it took one angel to roll aside the stone and sit on it. (verse 2)  I can imagine the heavenly being sitting there ready to announce, “He has risen!” Praise You, Jesus!
  • The verbal confirmation: “He is not here. He has risen from death, as He said he would.” (verse 6).  He said it.  He did it.  I believe it!  Jesus is no longer dead.  He is sitting at the right hand of God.
  • In verse 7 the Marys were told to go and tell.  In verse 8 the ladies were afraid yet filled with joy.  Does this sound like us?  We are told to go and tell others about Christ.  We are excited about the Good News, yet get butterflies in our stomach when we actually have to tell someone about Christ.  Remember the words you so often hear in the bible “Don’t be afraid.”  God is with you.  He will even give you the words to say. Pray.
  • Verse 9 gives a whole new meaning to the famous line in the movie, Jerry Maguire, “You had me at ‘Hello’”. It says, “Suddenly, Jesus was there in front of them. He said, “Hello!” The women went to Him and, holding on to his feet, worshiped Him.” I would have done the same.

These verses did more for me than any energy drink could have done (even though I’ve never tried one).
I hope you take hold of THIS new day.  Feel God’s power running through you today and may it be contagious.  Put a smile on your face knowing that Jesus is alive.  Don’t be afraid to share The Good News with others.  God is with you.  Finally, have you told God, “Hello” today?  He says, “Hi” to you. J
Blessings to you!
