Do you have scars?  I have plenty. Some scars are visible, and some are not.  But, each scar can tell a story.
One of the scars on my leg tells the story about the time I was about eleven years old.  I was riding my bike down our country road.  I had gotten cocky and was trying tricks on my bike as if I was on a horse performing at a circus or a rodeo.  You know the kind of performances where the rider twists and turns all around on the horses back? Well, the problem was, my “horse” didn’t have four legs.  When I went to turn 180 degrees, my hands still remained on the handlebars and the front wheel turned too.  My bike went tumbling down and I went with it.  When I landed on the gravel road, it wasn’t just the rocks that embedded into my sin, but one of the pedals jeered into my leg a bit as well.
If only I would have kept my eyes on the path ahead of me, I could have saved myself a lot of pain.
In Proverbs 4:25-27 we read, “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.  Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.   Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”
I’m sure we all have a scar story or two to tell.  And I’d go a little further to probably say that some of those scars (especially the ones we cannot see) have a story that is much more painful than my bicycle story.  Stories of times when we strayed from God and got off His righteous path.
Those scars will be a reminder of lessons learned.  But just like many of my physical scars, they will maybe slowly fade away with time.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Leave sin and the temptations of it behind you.
Blessings to you.
