“Anyone who likes to brag is asking for trouble.”  Psalm 17:19b
This verse conjured up many times in my life when I’ve had proud moments (bragged about something). I’m talking about those moments when almost as soon as I bragged about something, BAM…the opposite occurs.
Simple example…I was once the top girl at camp for shooting skeet and for archery. (Insert bragging moment…pat on the back.) I’ve grown up in the country and have had my fair share of shooting at targets.  Just last year I was a pretty sure shot. But this past visit to Kentucky we were having target practice with some pistols, and this once sure shot stunk up the place.  It was embarrassing!  Even Holly was making fun of me.
Bragging moments can involve a family member doing something well, a hobby you’ve almost perfected, etc.  Just be careful of the fall.  When you often boast about something, something else will happen to keep you humble.
It may come from God (like the above examples), or I’m thinking it could come from Satan too.
Here’s what I mean when I say it could come from Satan;  if you are one to go around professing, not only that you are a Christian, but a great Christian, that’s when Satan says, “Hahahahaha (evil laugh) he/she’s gonna get it. They think they’re a goodie-to-shoe.  I’ll prove them wrong.  I know their weakness. Hahahahaha.” Really, think about it.
Now, this is far from any theology, but I can see where God knocks us off our high horse to humble us, but Satan knocks us off our pedestal to cause trouble.
The one thing I’m confident in on boasting about is God’s love for us. 1 Corinthians 1:31 says, Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”
God loves you!  God rocks!  God is my Heavenly Father and He protects and loves me!  My Savior lives!…

  • James 4:16, “As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.”
  • Proverbs 27:2, “Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.”
  • James 3:5,So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!”
  • Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Blessings and God’s abundant love to y’all!
