My boys. 🙂

Last week a precious friend, whom I appreciate her walk in Christ, was walking towards me in the hallway at school.  As she passed she said, “I have a devotion for you.”
I asked with excitement, “What is it?”
She replied, “I could tell by your walk that it was you.”
My friend wasn’t referring to the literal way that I physically walk, but by my walk in Christ.
She spotted me about 40 yards, down this long and wide hall, and noticed the pep in my step.
Was Christ’s light shining through me?  I sure hope so.  And that it what my dear friend had noticed.
I didn’t feel the desire to write about it at that time, but God provided some scripture for me today that led me back to my friend’s devotional suggestion. (Thank you, Susan W..  Thanks, God.)
In Proverbs 20:27 I read, “Your spirit is like a lamp to the Lord. He is able to see into your deepest parts.”  I thought to myself, “Yes, God wants us to be the light of the world.  God can see in and through us.  He wants others to see Him in and through us as well, by our deeds and actions.  Just like Susan had mentioned about my walk.”
Matthew 5:14-16says, “You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden….16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.”
“Here is what is important: a right way of life, peace, and joy—all from the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever serves Christ by living this way is pleasing God, and they will be accepted by others.”  Romans 14:17b-18.  I pray that those important characteristics in life are what others will see in me.
I tend to be a very expressive person.  You can often tell what I’m thinking or how I’m feeling by the look on my face.  (That’s not always a good thing.  Trust me!)  So I try to make sure that I fill myself with Christ’s love through lots of prayer and quiet time with Him.  My humanness does have its way of creeping up and out, but God knows to keep me in check.
When I read other versions of Proverbs 20:27 it reads like this:

  • The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit,
    exposing every hidden motive.
  • God is in charge of human life,
watching and examining us inside and out.

Others are not the only ones who are watching our walk, God is.  I pray that as He is examining me with His light, that it will radiate out so that others can see Christ in me.
When I read Romans 15:13 I thought that it was the perfect way to end my journaling today.  It reads,

  • “I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in Him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

May God fill you up today with joy, peace, love, and hope.
Blessings to y’all.
