Go ahead..laugh at my lovely illustrations. They get the point across, right? 😉

I will never forget the illustration that my youth pastor, Tommy, drew out on a large chart paper to a room full of teens when we were at a lake retreat some 27 years ago.  I have often used, and given credit to Tommy, the same illustration with a plethora of folks over the years.  The diagram he drew was meant to be for dating/marriage/or any other relationship you have with someone else.
It was a triangle.  At the top apex was God, and at the two bottom vertices were you and the other person. He told the story and depicted the scene as that when we grow closer to God (both parties), then we grow closer to each other.
It is so true!  I can testify that over mine and Tim’s 22 years of marriage, the closer we grow to God, the closer we have become to each other in our relationship. To God be the glory!
Well, what if we were to just eliminate the triangle illustration and use just a simple line segment. (Oh my, I’m sounding like a math teacher.  Wait..I am.)  God would be at one end, and you would be at the other.  When you choose to move away from God, guess what? He remains.  You are the one who moves away.  But…when you step in His direction, He wants to meet you.  God takes a step closer to you as well.
In James 4:8a it says, “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”  The Message translations says, “Say a quiet yes to God and He’ll be there in no time.”
So what are you waiting for?  RUN!  Run to Jesus and He’ll run to you.  It’s you move.
Will you say “yes” to God and draw near to Him?
Blessings and God’s abundant love to y’all.
