This “Day’s LOVE” is really a love/hate relationship.  Please tell me I’m not alone here.
I love to eat, eat, and eat, but hate how it makes me feel and/or look in the end.
I love it when someone compliments me on being “petite”, but hate when I see myself in the mirror.  (Where did those dimples come from? Really?)
I love it when I exercise, but hate finding the time to be consistent with a routine.
Today I went Bungy jumping (Oh, I’m sure there will be a devotion coming out of that soon.).  When the staff guy informed me that I was too light to reach the water, I wanted to give him a big hug! Too light? Yes!  But that euphoria lasted only until I returned back to the hotel and glanced in the mirror. Ugh.
I spoke with Holly on the phone today (Thanks, Connie, for your international phone.), and she mentioned how she has enjoyed conditioning for the past couple weeks with a group of friends and how it made her look and feel.  I told her that when I come home, we are both going to hold each other accountable and getting ready for summertime.
She is just like her momma.  We both need someone to hold us accountable for staying motivated to exercise.
Much like Holly and I need to be “exercising accountability partner”, we Christians need them in our lives as well.
I know of friends of all ages who have such partners.  They question each other in their daily walk and thoughts.  They reel each other back into focus when one of them has made a choice that isn’t godly.  They genuinely pray for one another.  Being held accountable is a good thing.
Do you have an accountability partner to keep you in shape with your Christian life?
You may not realize this, but YOU are part of my accountability group.  I cannot tell you how many times I question myself, “Am I making a difference for Christ through this ministry?”  Or “Is anyone really reading the thoughts that God has placed on my heart?”  Then, almost instantly, God sends someone in my life to keep me accountable and encourage me.  For example, I’ve had two strangers approach me lately, look at me (because they recognized me from various pictures I’ve posted), and say something like, “I thought that was you.  My name is ___, and I read your blog every day whether you post a new one or not.  Thank you for being real in your Christian walk and encouraging me.”  And, I’ve had men whisper to me, “I really like your blog.” As if it is a “for ladies only” site.  I love it!  Are you kidding me?  Your comments keep me going and make me want to seek God more.  THANK YOU!
Just like how I have a love/hate relationship with my body when it comes to food and exercise, we probably have the same type of relationship with finding the time to feed and exercise our souls with scripture and prayer.  Oh how feeding and exercising the soul truly pays off for us.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”  Proverbs 27:17
I pray God’s abundant love and blessing for y’all.
