Last week Tim and I went to the funeral of one of our former high school classmates.  His aunt brought a powerful message that was bathed in scripture.  She had mentioned that Dean, our classmate, had his favorite scripture verse engraved into his pocket knife.  He carried it with him everywhere he went.
Afterwards, I asked Tim about his favorite bible verse, and I pondered on which one was mine.  It seems that almost each time I open the bible a verse speaks to me and I’m like, “Oh, that’s a good one!”  But it didn’t take me long to realize that my favorite verse is actually written in two places in the bible.  Once in the Old Testament and once when Jesus quoted it in the New Testament.
I’ve prayed these words for my children since they were born. As I laid my head down on my pillow last night, and before my feet hit the floor this morning, I uttered these words to God for my family.  I remind myself often that if I obey this verse that everything else will fall into place.  Sharing this scripture with others just rolls off my tongue with great confidence and conviction.
What is my favorite verse?
“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’Matthew 22:37
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
So I guess that you can say that my third “LOVE” to share this month is…I LOVE my favorite bible verse because God LOVES me enough to write it, get this…10 times, not just twice. We were reminded to love God with all our heart in ten different places in the bible. (See these verses as well.)
Do you have a favorite bible verse?  I’d LOVE to hear it.  Please share your favorite verse with me, and don’t forget to share it with your loved ones as well.
I pray God’s blessings and abundant love for y’all.
