holly hugThe Family Circus cartoons by Jeff and Bill Keane are precious.  A while back I cut out one of the cartoons that reminded me of my husband, Tim, and our only daughter, Holly. For about a month it was magnetized to the refrigerator before Holly finally discovered it.  I know she finally saw it because one afternoon while I was at school I received a text message with the cartoon, and a response hand-written on the bottom saying, “Holly”.  I just smiled.family circus
Tim treasures what we call his “Holly hugs”.  Last night Tim and I were in the kitchen preparing for the Thanksgiving meal.  We had music playing in the background and a fire roaring in the fireplace.  That’s when Holly came strolling in with a “Daniel Boone” coon hat that my father-in-law had brought back from cleaning out the Kentucky home.  She’s so beautiful being “Danielle Boone” that I had to capture the moment.  Well, this moment just happen to be another “Holly hug” moment.
I thought about John Mayer’s song that says, “Father, be good to you daughters.  Daughters will love like you do.”  I must say, Tim is so good to his daughter. He loves her and she sees how much he loves me.  I pray that Holly will one day have a godly man that loves her and will treasure his “Holly hugs” like her daddy does.
Now, this is just awesome!  While I’m sitting here typing this journal entry guess who comes knocking on my door?  My daddy!  I couldn’t resist but have this moment captured as well.  So while Tim gets his “Holly hugs”, my daddy will receive his “Stephanie hugs”.   me and daddy
Well, how can I type something about daddys without mentioning the greatest daddy of all…my Heavenly Father?  I LOVE my Daddy, and you know what? My Daddy loves you too.
I pray that you will feel your “Heavenly Daddy’s hug” wrapped around you today.
I pray God’s abundant love and much joy for y’all.
