IMG_5633December FIRST! What?   Is it just me or do you agree that the older you get the faster the years go?
Well, no matter how much we may try to slow things down sometimes, time keeps on tickin’ and there is a beginning to everything.
Today is the beginning of the last month of the year.  When the alarm went off this morning, I said a prayer of thanksgiving and a prayed up today…that was the beginning of my day.
John 1:1-2 is probably of the most famous or quoted scriptures in the bible.  It says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.”  The Word is Jesus Christ.  He didn’t just appear 2,014 years ago.  Nope, He has been here since the creation of time.  Now, He (the Son of God) did appear in the flesh 2,014 years ago, but the Son has really been with His Father since the very beginning.
Now, this conversation of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all being one can be quite perplex to understand.  But can I give you a hint?  Let’s take another “Family Circus” cartoon to get us started…Last week’s cartoon had a picture of the little boy sitting in the chair with a book in his lap.  The caption read, “Hey, know what?  This book is actually pretty good once you start to read it!”  You can take this any way you want, but I’m using it to illustrate the point of “Let’s begin reading the bible…it’s actually pretty awesome once you START to read it!”  The hint is…once you start reading God’s word, the bewilderment of understanding the Trinity discussion will become clearer.
Oh, and there is soooo much more! Once you start reading the bible each day you will ask yourself “Why didn’t I start reading this book sooner?”  It is slam full of life lessons, what to-do and not-to-do, drama, comedy, romance, action, and adventure!
I pray that regardless of how routine your days are that you will tackle today with freshness.  It’s a new day…a new beginning.  Make it the best day ever!  And…start it off with a few words in the word of God.
I pray God’s abundant love and much joy for y’all.
