mangerWhile they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,  and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. Luke 2:6-7
A few thoughts come to my mind to ruminate on when I read these verses.  I hope  you will ponder on them as well:

  • The time came…God’s timing. Life and the time and place of events don’t always happen or occur how “we” think should transpire, but God has a purpose for everything and things will happen when He allows it to.
  • The baby…He was no ordinary baby, He was God’s son. Jesus. A baby is not what people were expecting to be King of Kings. But God likes to shake things up a bit and provide you with the unexpected. God has a way of keeping us on our toes.
  • She gave birth…A birth is an unforgettable occasion. It is an emotional, a physical, and a spiritual experience. When we are “born again” it is truly an unforgettable occasion.
  • She wrapped him…Use whatever term you choose: snuggled, enveloped, secured, swaddled, protected, etc. all these words make me feel like I’m being comforted. That is exactly what Jesus does…He comforts us.
  • Placed him in a manger…There was no decorated crib nor a dainty bassinet. Jesus was placed in a manger, a box, a feeding trough. Just like He was no ordinary baby and He was placed in an unlikely place for a King, you may think that you are an unlikely dwelling for God to be placed in.  But you are not! He uses the unordinary to dwell in and bring glory.
  • Because there was no room available…A friend posted a picture that harmonizes perfectly with my thoughts regarding these words. It says, “Each one of us is an innkeeper who decides if there is room for Jesus”. Yes! You must decide if you have room for Jesus in your heart and life. I can’t imagine life without Him. Not only do I have room, but I desire for Christ to take up complete residency.

I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
