Recently, Tim and I were out on the boat, looking for bait.  The sun kept playing hide-n-seek behind the clouds.  The water was calm.  I was on the top deck at the wheel, and my man was on the bow ready to throw the cast net on a school of white bait.
Now, compared to me…Tim is the professional.  He knows what he is looking for…that specific flash in the water.  He knows the type of location the bait is usually hiding or schooling around.  My man knows the perfect technique on how to beautifully open up the net to capture the bait.  He knows.
While I was at the helm, Tim would instruct me where to go.  He would say which direction, or what focal point to steer towards, or point into the direction he’d want me to go.
There were times when I’d get distracted.  He may have been looking for bait fish, but I may see a stingray or shark or something other than flashes in the water to get my attention. Maybe I thought I could foresee where he’d want me to go, and I would soon discover, that my way was not the best way. During those moments, and there were plenty, Tim would redirect my attention and guide me in the right direction.  He knew best.
When I would listen to my man’s instruction…BAIT.  Success!
This scenario reminded me of how we often are with God.
How many times do we start on God’s path, and then…distraction occurs.
Maybe we thought our way was better.  Maybe something more attractive apprehended our attention. Maybe we…I’m sure you can provide other methods of distraction from following God’s path.
The Man is right here to guide us.  He is here to instruct on where to go.  God needs to be our focal point, and if we keep our eyes on Him, He will point us in the direction He wants us to go.
God knows.
God knows best.
God knows the path He has for us, and we need to pray for the self-discipline to stay on His path.
I pray that you will fixate your focus on Jesus Christ.  When you do find yourself getting distracted, look to Him to redirect your steps.  Open the Word of God and seek the path He desires for you.  He will help you go the right way.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.  Proverbs 19:21

Your word is like a lamp that guides my steps, a light that shows the path I should take.  Psalm 1119:105

With every step you take, think about what He wants, and He will help you go the right way.  Proverb 3:6

Remember…The Father knows best!  Stay the course.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
