Wow!  Are you serious? Has it been that long?
I know I’ve been silent from publishing my journaling AND journaling through the Bible, but I didn’t realize that I haven’t posted my reading-through-the-bible-in-a-year notes since February 3rd!
The last time I even tried to publish was on February 14th.  My heart was truly broken to have found out that some friends of ours had lost their 24 year old son to a freak accident.  Thomas was a college graduate, recently married, and was on his way to being a Navy Seal following in his daddy’s footsteps.  He and a friend were on their way home from a hunting trip, in California, and stop on the side of the road to secure the tarp on the back of the truck.  An oncoming car, lost control and killed Thomas.  This was another disheartening reminder that life is short.  Life for God and love big.  Please remember his family in your prayers.
Throughout the passed weeks, God and I have spent time together daily, and He continued to reveal His love to me, I just kept much of our intimate time private.
If you are someone who has been reading through the Bible with me, hang on for a long reading below (so sorry), as I share what God put on my heart each day while reading.  Please remember…I am NO bible scholar.  I am a girl who loves Jesus and desires to know Him more.  What I type for my journaling is what I feel He puts in my mind and heart.  You may think differently (heck, I may feel differently the next time I read it through), and I would truly love to hear your thoughts on any of the topics and scripture.  I have posed questions and have had more “ah-ha” moments while reading.  Y’all, God’s word is alive and active.   I’ve read these pages through before, yet each time I read them, God reveals something new to me or refreshes my mind and soul each time.  Due to the different seasons we go through in life, our insights may be different.  Are you reading along with me too?  I’d love to know.
Before I post ALL the February journaling, I hope you’ll stay tuned to Soaking up The Son for future life lessons God teaches through simple every day life.  Also, I’m working on a little piece from working/volunteering at the Florida Strawberry Festival.  You know this PC/hometown girl will write about our festival.  maybe I’ll see you there.

Here we go (oh, and please forgive any typos, which I usually have many.  I’m not rereading through all these notes since February 4th) (Oh oh, and you won’t hurt my feelings if you don’t read through all this.  But I do pray that you will be encouraged and grow closer to Him.  That’s my desire for you.):
Feb 4th:
EXODUS 19:16-21:21

  • God is powerful.
  • Hmmm…maybe…God knew the people would be tempted to go somewhere they were instructed not to go.  They needed another reminder. Think about that when you are out and about. Are there places you shouldn’t be, and you know you shouldn’t be there?  Back off.  
  • God rescues you from bondage. Then and now.
  • THE TEN COMMANDMENTS! Starts here.  Verse 3.  
  • He is God alone.  Love and obey Him.
  • When you fear/respect/love the Lord, you won’t want to sin. Does sin happen? Yes, we are human, imperfect, sinners, and in a broken world, but when you strive to live for God you are more aware of right and wrong and know there are consequences to sin.  Strive to be like the perfect one. Allow the Holy Spirit keep you from sinning.
  • After reading parts of the Old Testament, I’m grateful that God put me here after all that.  My head spins just thinking about all the relationships, laws, family lineage. Yikes. Just sayin’.

MATTHEW 23:13-39

  • Keep your eyes on Jesus.  Don’t be a hypocrite. There will be a price you’ll pay for your hypocrisy.  Love Christ, not the religion or works. It is about a relationship with Him, not religion.
  • Be fair.  Show mercy.  Be faithful. That is important.
  • Get yourself clean and right on the inside, then your outward appearance won’t present itself as dirty.   
  • Jesus wants to protect you, like a “hen protects her chicks beneath her wings”.  You have to allow Him to keep you safe. When you have troubles and trials, run to Jesus.  He knows your every need and will provide and protect.

PSALM 28:1-9

  • Please know that God is always there and listening to you.
  • God will protect you.
  • He is your strength and shield.
  • Trust God with ALL. Your heart, not just a portion of it.

PROVERBS 7:1-5

  • Love wisdom and insight.  Obey God’s commands. This will protect you from those immoral people who seek to flatter and entice you.

February 5th:
EXODUS 21:22-23:13

  • Do the right thing.
  • If you do s one thing wrong, be ready to pay the price.
  • Virginity is precious.
  • Don’t have sex with animals. Ewww.
  • We have a social responsibility to the poor and powerless.  Help others.
  • God is merciful.
  • Don’t gossip or lie or take bribes. Period.

MATTHEW 24:1-28

  • Don’t be deceived by others claiming that the Messiah is here.  You will know. Jesus said so.
  • We need the sense of urgency to share the gospel with others.  If you are a Christian, I pray that you will share God’s love and news with others as you go throughout your day.  It may be with words or actions. Be the hands of feet of Christ and share Him.

PSALM 29:1-11

  • Honor and worship the LORD
  • His voice is powerful and majestic.  Listen for His voice.
  • He rules, reigns, gives, and blesses. 
  • The LORD will give i you peace and strength through any storm. 

PROVERBS 7:6-23

  • Whoa.  This reading sounds like a preview to a seductive movie.  
  • Beware of being seduced and enticed by smooth talk and flattery.

Feb 6th:
EXODUS 23:14-25:40

  • Serve God alone. He will bless and protect you.
  • God warns us often about falling into the trap of sin and having “other gods”/ idols before Him.  It is a challenge. Yet a challenge that can be faced WITH God.
  • The Lord always goes before you.  Trust in Him.
  • Okay, first of all I am grateful that God made me for this time in life and not the Old Testament.  Having the pastor splatter blood on me as a confirmation of the covenant doesn’t seem appealing to me.  Secondly, I’m grateful that Jesus is living in me, and not just a tabernacle to go to. He is with you always. Glory!
  • God is in the details.  Reading His instructions about how to build the Ark of the Covenant is precise and beautiful.  Reading this makes me think of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark (movie from 1981)The expressions on the actors’ faces were of awe and honor.  That’s exactly how we should view Jesus Christ. The Ark is the foreshadowing of Jesus. Oh, my friend, please embrace the coronation between the Old and New Testaments and be amazed.

  • Only God knows when the Second Coming is.  Not even the angels in heaven or Jesus Himself.  
  • When I read verse 40 I can’t help but be taken back to my childhood and days of youth camps and singing “I wish we’d all been ready”.  Look it up. Do you remember it?
  • Christ will come when we least expect it.  Always be ready.
  • Do well while here on earth.  God sees and rewards.
  • Don’t be a hypocrite.

PSALM 30:1-12

  • Hard times will come, but JOY comes in the morning. Sweet!
  • God gave you today…give it all to Him.  Praise Him.

  • Fun for a day may lead to fright for a lifetime.  Be wise. Make good/godly decisions. Don’t fall victim to the sin of the world.

EXODUS 28:1-43

  • May God’s detailed words be inscribed in your heart and displayed on you. May His love show on you for others to Christ in you.

MATTHEW 25:31-26:13

  • Are. You a sheep or a goat? Hint…be led and recognized by The Shepherd as one of His sheep.
  • Be kind and generous with others, as if you are doing it for the Lord.

PSALM 31:9-18

  • David felt hopeless, in distress, and alone.  He was broken. Have you ever felt this way? I have.  Just know, like David knew, that God will shine on you with His unfailing love, and rescue you from your pit.  Trust in Him. You are NOT alone.

PROVERBS 8:12-13

  • The more you know and love God, the more you despise evil.

Feb 9th:
EXODUS 29:1-30:10

  • God is holy.  Respect and honor Him.  We need to be mindful of taking God and worship time with Him for granted.  I pray that when you meet God either in your quiet time or at church, let it be between you and Him, allowing yourself to ignore your surroundings and to be at one with the Lord.  Make your time meaningful.

MATTHEW 26:14-46

  • Please don’t betray Jesus…at any cost. Don’t be a Judas.
  • God knows your heart and intentions.
  • The Lord’s Supper is a sacred ritual we still participate in at my church.  Remember…when you are at a church and they offer the Lord’s Supper, you must be a believer in Christ.  Let this time be a time of reflection and gratitude. Be humble and heartfelt.
  • No matter what path lays before you in life, pray for God’s will to be done.  You may desire for something different, but God has a plan and will do what is best to bring glory to Him through you.

PSALM 31:19-24

  • Fear/respect the Lord. Go to Him for protection.  He will hide you inHis presence.
  • Be strong and courageous.  Put your hope in the Lord.

PROVERBS 8:14-26

  • Wisdom is foundation.  It encompasses common sense, success, insight, strength, riches, honor, enduring wealth, and justice.  All who seek Wisdom will find it. 

Feb 10th:
EXODUS 30:11-31:18

  • You are never too poor or too wealthy to not give or out give God.  It’s all His anyhow…give a tithe to the Lord.
  • God gives people gifts.  Use the gift He gives you to bring glory and honor to Him.

MATTHEW 26:47-68

  • Jesus was always all about doing God’s will, even until death.
  • Jesus mentions fulfilling the scriptures…read Psalm 22:16-18, Isaiah 53:7-9, and Zechariah 13:7
  • People are mean.  Jesus knows what it is like to be ridiculed and bullied.  When you face opposition, turn to The One who knows best and has been there and gone through it.

PSALM 32:1-11

  • Praise God! When we confess all our sins and stop trying to hide our guilt, God forgives! He clears our guilt and puts our sins out of sight. He will fill you with joy.
  • The LORD says He will guide you along the best pathway for your life and will advise you and watch over you. Yes! Yes! Yes! I pray you will seek His ways, get in His word, and allow God to be God.  Remember…He is God and you are not. 

PROVERBS 8:27-32

  • I am reminded that God established the heavens, drew the horizon on the oceans, set the clouds above, established springs deep in the earth, and set limits of the seas and gave them boundaries.  Y’all, He is The Creator! Don’t forget that.
  • Seek Wisdom and follow His ways…you will be joyful.

Feb 11th:
EXODUS 32:1-33:23

  • Impatience can lead to some bad decisions.
  • Even godly people can get caught up and led astray, much like Aaron.
  • Just remember…God sees all.
  • God is merciful.
  • Can you imagine…having the two stone tablets, which God Himself had written on with His own finger, and then smashing them to the ground? Yikes!  That’s what happened.
  • You will be responsible for the sin you commit.
  • God cracks me up.  He is so over these people.  He warned them in 33:3, “I will not travel with you, for you are a stubborn and rebellious people.  If I did, I would surely destroy you along the way.” Haha. This sounds like me today with my teenager today.
  • The Lord would speak to Moses as one speaks to a friend. (Verse 11).  That’s exactly what prayer is, communication with a friend…your Best Friend.

MATTHEW 26:69-27:14

  • Peter was told he was going to deny Jesus, and he did.  How many times have we been warned about something, done it, then cried like a baby because we knew we did wrong. Guilty.  Friend, please don’t deny Christ. He wants to be your best friend. Proudly have him as your Friend.
  • Peter wasn’t the only one feeling shame, Judas did too.  He was filled with remorse. Judas took it a little too far though and took his own life.  He just couldn’t live with himself knowing he was the one who pointed Jesus out.  
  • Many events took place in order to fulfill prophecy, but I wonder if the reaction of some (mainly thinking of Judas) was not part of the original plan, yet a divergent due to one’s own choices? Any thoughts?
  • You know the saying, “if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all”…Jesus remained silent.  Sure, He was doing exactly what He came to earth to do, yet could you imagine wanting to blurt out a few words about the accusers? Jesus is a way better person than I. Shocker. LOL.

PSALM 33:1-11

  • God’s word is true…He is Truth.
  • We can trust everything He does…even when we don’t understand it.
  • Man’s plans can be shaken, but the Lord’s plans stand firm forever.

PROVERBS 8:33-36

  • Don’t ignore God’s wisdom. 
  • Seeking and gaining wisdom gives joy and life.

Feb 12th:
EXODUS 34:1-35:9

  • God describes himself and calls himself Yahweh (LORD) here.
  • We will pay a price for our sins.
  • God is awesome!  He is a jealous God when it comes to you.  He loves you!
  • When you hang with the bad, they can rub off on you.
  • Moses survived on God alone.  For 40 days and nights.  
  • When you speak and spend time with God, you will radiate his love and light.

MATTHEW 27:15-31

  • When I read verse 19 it made me think of the saying “behind every successful man is a strong woman.”
  • BE careful of the power of persuasion.  Sometimes you just may be persuaded into doing something you shouldn’t do, and often know you shouldn’t’ do it.
  • My heart aches as i begin reading about how Jesus, an innocent man, was flogged, stripped, mocked, talented, and struck.

PSALM 33:12-22

  • God sees all.
  • He understands you.
  • Only God can save.
  • Rely/commit/depend/hope/lead/trust God’s unfailing love
  • Put our hope in God alone.

PROVERBS 9:1-6

  • Wisdom is complete and perfect.
  • We all are invited to have Wisdom.  I pray that you will accept the invitation to live and learn to use good judgement.  We urge could use more of this in our world.  

Feb 13th:
EXODUS 35:10-36:38

  • The Lord is into the details. I know I’ve said it numerous times throughout this reading through the Bible, but it is true.  He knows and is into every detail of your life. Nothing goes unnoticed with the Lord. Turn to him.
  • Phrases such as, “Hearts were stirred”, “spirits were moved”, “ hearts were willing”, and “eager to help” are penned in verses 20-29.  Oh how, I pray that my heart is stirred, spirit is moved, heart is willing, and I’m eager to help when it comes to Jesus and what I learn from Him and in sharing His love with others. You?
  • Thank God for those who are gifted in construction and being creative in building things. While reading the thought came to mind that someone may be gift or have the ability to do something, but unless they are “eager to get to work” their talent may go unnoticed.
  • Reading chapter 36 verses 5-7, makes me think our my church’s slogan (?) (Not sure what to call it) when it states “FBCPC exists to lead people beyond just good enough…”. The Israelites had given more than enough.  When we live to serve God, we become more inclined to be more than just okay or good enough, but give and live our best life.
  • 45’. 45’ was how tall the curtains were for the Tabernacle. 45’! Y’all, that’s about 4 stories of a building, yes?
  • Details, details, details! Every time I read this description I’m amazed at size and intricacy.

MATTHEW 27:32-66

  • The people remembered Jeus’ words about rebuilding a temple in three days.  They just didn’t understand. How often do we listen or read, and remember what the Bible says, yet we truly didn’t understand it?  Understanding comes through knowing. Knowing comes through consistently being in the word. Being in the word builds a relationship…a relationship between us and The Creator.
  • Although the people had witnessed Jesus perform many miracles, they still wanted more so that Jesus could prove Himself true to he who said He was.  Greed? Possibly. Remember, we don’t need to prove ourselves to anyone but God. When we do our best and live for God, others will eventually see Him in us. Whether they get it or not does matter, but ultimately what matters most is if we pleased God.
  • Noticed that in verse 51, the curtain was torn from top to bottom, not bottom to top.  Man didn’t tear the curtain, God from above did.
  • Joseph of Arimathea stood up for Jesus.  H event to Pilate, asked for Jesus’ body, took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, placed the body in his own new tomb, rolled the stone across the entrance, then left.  May we be encouraged to step up for Christ.  

PSALM 34:1-10

  • What a precious and encouraging psalm.  
  • David appealed to nearly every sense we have. When we feel, see, taste, and hear God’s greatness we truly have all we need in Him.

PROVERBS 9:7-8

  • Be wise, not a wise-guy.
  • Learn from criticism. Don’t return with mockery.

Feb 14th:
EXODUS 37:1-38:31

  • Bezalel…a man who needs more study done on.  He had great responsibility and talent. A wise man.

MATTHEW 28:1-20

  • Jesus has risen!
  • Being a christian can. Be a lot like Mary and Mary’s reaction…very frightening and yet filled with great joy. Maybe I should say frightening though because God isn’t a god of fear, but it can often be challenging.
  • We also should do as the Marys did…run to Jesus, grasped onto Him, and worship Christ our King.
  • The Jews…still today…believe a lie/a bribe.
  • Be sure of this…Jesus is with us ALWAYS and forever!

PSALM 34:11-22

  • How to live long and prosperous…read these verses.
  • It’s not a thing that when it is once handed to us it is a done deal…we must work to maintain it.  Don’t take God for granted.
  • Such comforting verses.  The Lord hears us, rescues us, and is near.

PROVERBS 9:9-10

  • Respect the LORD…this is the foundation of wisdom.

Feb 15th:
EXODUS 39:1-40:38

  • Everything was done, just as the Lord commanded.
  • Blessings come to those who follow the Lord.
  • The Lord is precise.  Moses obeyed.
  • The glory of the Lord, in verses 34-38, reminded me of the fog Tim and I were in while we were fishing.  A greater presence was in the fog (the ship).  

MARK 1:1-28

  • John the Baptist was the messenger God had told about to Isaiah.  John lived a simple, humble, and yet very important life. He told others about Jesus and His coming, and made sure they knew the difference.
  • Oh what a sight that must have been to witness John baptizing Jesus in the Jordan, then to hear God speak from heaven “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”  Y’all, that just makes me want to cry. I sure hope God looks down and smiles at me. I want to bring Him joy.
  • Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days, surrounded by wild animals and temptations by Satan himself.  The angels took care of Jesus.
  • I can imagine it today…Jesus stands on a stage, mic in hand, says, “God made you a promise.  Here I am. Repent and believe.’ Then, gently puts the mic back into the stand, turns, and walks away with people  following Him. No, actually, He walks down into the crowd, bends down beside someone, and others come to surround Him just to be close.
  • Simon and Andrew, James and John all left their nets AT ONCE and followed Jesus.
  • Even the evil spirit filled man recognized and called Jesus “the Holy One of God”.  It obeyed Jesus and came out of the man. Wow…if only people could recognize and obey Christ as easily.

PSALM 35:1-16

  • David wants the Lord to not only fight for him, but to pursue the enemy as they flee.  Chase them down and make sure they pay for what they did.  
  • Verse 7 and 8 remind me of the saying “they made their own bed, and now they can lie in it.”

PROVERBS 9:11-12

  • Be wise, not a wise guy.

Feb 16th:
LEVITICUS 1:1-3:17

  • A couple of thoughts come to mind while reading the procedures for the burnt offerings.  When I read “it is a pleasing aroma to the LORD.” I thought of:
    • If the smell of the livestock’s meat is truly pleasing (what I would call pleasing) to The Lord…He likes to grill.  We enjoy grilling at our home. The aroma of a seasoned steak sizzling on the grill is mouth-watering. He is The Grill Miester. 
    • While on the other hand, if the smell was what I envisioned while reading all the gory details, I think about how right now something is lying dead in our woods and the stench is horrific when the wind blows in our direction.  This scenario made me think of how God wants us just as we are…stink and all. He will purify you.
    • But, in reality, the unblemished animal was cleaned and washed right away, so the first scenario seems more appealing. Y’all see what runs through my crazy mind while reading?  Welcome to my world. 
  • Praise God He sent his Son as a living sacrifice for us.  He paid the price. He rescued us. Our sins can be forgiven through Jesus’ death and love.

MARK 1:29-2:12

  • When the man with leprosy as Jesus to heal him, he said “if you are willing”, not “if you can”.  He knew Jesus could. He didn’t want to impose. Jesus felt compassion for this man and healed him.
  • Jesus is the ultimate rockstar.  People were like paparazzis…they were all on Him every He went.
  • Jesus got up early in the morning, before daybreak, to go to an isolated place to pray.  Good example.
  • Four friends brought their paralyzed friend to Jesus.  Find a group of friends who will go out of their way to bring you to Christ.  These friends dug a hole in the roof to get their buddy to Jesus.

PSALM 35:17-28

  • Reading David’s words is a reminder that we will have troubles and trials.   Even when, maybe even especially when, you are a Christian, people will try to attack you.  Satan will try to make you fall. But hold on…know that God can and will rescue you and protect you from your enemies.  They will pay the price for their injustice.

PROVERBS 9:13-18

  • Stay away form trouble.  Trouble is always lurking and trying to entice you.  Beware.

Feb 17th:
LEVITICUS 4:1-5:19

  • Several times when reading this, the words “when you become aware of your guilt, you must confess your sin.”  After reading them over and over again, it made me think that when we know we have sinned, don’t just say a blanket statement of “Lord, please forgive me for my sin”, no…be specific, call yourself out, lay it all before God. You will be forgiven and made right.

MARK 2:13-3:6

  • Levi (Whois also Matthew, a tax collector) joins Jesus s one of his disciples…”he got up and followed him”
  • Do you know that you are a sinner?  Perfect! You are exactly who Jesus wants.
  • I’m sorry, but not really, in comparing the pharisees to the far-left democrats in America.  When I read chapter 3 verses 1-6, the Pharisees behavior was one of personal gain, out to get Jesus, and this made them lose sight of what they were really supposed to be doing, which was pointing people to God.  The Dems are so focused on hating and attacking our president that they aren’t doing what they are supposed to be doing, which is taking care of America. That’s my opinion.

PSALM 36:1-12

  • Sin offers arrogance, wickedness, crookedness, and deceit.  
  • God offers unfailing love, faithfulness, righteousness, justice, and care.  
  • Hmm…which do you choose?

PROVERBS 10:1-2

  • Be wise and live right…this will bring joy and life
  • Be foolish and don’t earn money in a corrupt way…these bring grief and have no lasting value.

Feb 18th:
LEVITICUS 6:1-7:27

  • Reading the rituals and instructions given by the Lord for sin, makes me 1) appreciate that He sent is Son and all I have to do is wholeheartedly ask for forgiveness, and it will be given.  It’s that simple. We are the ones who make it difficult by overthinking the guilt and shame and unworthiness. But god wants us to know that we are worthy, and our guilt and shame can be washed away by coming to Him. 2) I’m reminded how important repentance is to God and how we need to do this.

MARK 3:7-30

  • Jesus called the 12 disciples:  Simeon Peter, James and John, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew the tax collector, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the zealot, and Judas Iscariot.
  • The one sin with eternal consequences is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

PSALM 37:1-11

  • One of my favorite verses is right here. Verse 4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” The more your relationship grows with Christ, the more you discover that HE is your desire.  Oh friend, if you will desire the Lord you’ll discover that He and His love shines in and threw you.
  • Trust in the Lord and be patient. 

PROVERBS 10:3-4

  • Be godly, and work hard versus craving wickedness and being lazy.

Feb 19th:
LEVITICUS 7:28-9:6

  • Such a sacred time.

MARK 3:31-4:25

  • Jesus was a great expository speaker.  He spoke so that his audience could relate and apply his teachings.  He tells us that the more we listen to Him the more we will understand.  I pray that you and I will stay in God’s word. Get in it, learn something new daily, adn keep growing.  More understanding will come.

PSALM 37:12-29

  • People will plan evil against others, but God sees all and knows that they can plan all they want, but they will pay for what they do.  God’s got this.
  • Over and over again a, while reading through the Bible, I’ve mentioned how God is into the details.  Well, here you go…verse 23…”The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”  He is so into you and every detail of your life!
  • Be on God’s side and live forever.

PROVERBS 10:5

  • Keep pressing on in the 24 hours a day God has given to you.  Don’t be lazy.

Feb 20th:
LEVITICUS 9:7-10:20

  • They obeyed God’s commands, and the LORD’s glory appeared with a blazing fire and consumed the offering.  Everyone was amazed.
  • Then…Aaron’s sons disobeyed God by burning before Him the word kind of fire. They were consumed.  Aaron lost his two sons (Nadab and Abiquiu) that day. A joyous day turned tragic. Follow the Lord’s commands.

MARK 4:26-5:20

  • Even when storms are rocking the boat and waves are crashing down on you, know that Jesus is calm, cool, and collected.  He’s got this. Have faith. Be calm.
  • Jesus is so powerful!  I’m always amazed at how even the demons know Him and call Him by name.  They are afraid of Him. The most powerful of demons can’t overthrow Jesus.  They knew this too.  
  • When I read the encounter of Jesus with the Legion demon, I often wonder what happened to the livelihood of the farmers who lost their herd.  I’m sure that if they were converted and believe in Christ, they were compensated somehow. Your thoughts?

PSALM 37:30-40

  • God will never let the wicked succeed.  Get that.
  • Put your hope in the Lord.
  • Be honest, good, and love peace…you will have a wonderful future.
  • WHen you feel like the world, trials, evil, etc. surround you, take heart and know that God will rescue you.  He is your fortress. He will help, save, and shelter you. Don’t lose hope.

PROVERBS 10:6-7

  • Oh, Lord, shower me with blessings!

LEVITICUS 11:1-12:8

  • Sacred ceremonies

MARK 5:21-43

  • The bleeding woman had great faith.  She believed that all she had to do was touch the robe of Jesus, not even touch His body or speak with Him or beg Him to heal her, she simply believed and immediately was healed.  Her quiet faith was so strong. Jesus honored her and gave her peace. The verse on “peace that passeth all understanding” comes to my mind here. While many were trying hard to get face time with Christ, this lady had great desire and faith in the presence of/closeness to/being near Jesus. 
  • Jairus and his wife were overwhelmed and totally amazed at Jesus healing their little girl, raising her from death.  They wanted the healing, yet were wowed when they received it. Why are we always feeling the same when we see Jesus at work.  You know, He is at work all the time. Look up, look around, and smile in grateful amazement.

PSALM 38:1-22

  • David knew what it was like to feel constant pain, crushed, guilty, a fool, broken, and alone trap, yet he is hopeful and trust in God to see him through.  David confesses his wrongs, and chooses to wait not the Lord.
  • We should admit and confess our sins to God and choose to follow Christ instead of worrying about what the world thinks of us. May deaf ears fall on the bombarding of what the world thinks of you, and may the Lord’s voice loudly fill you with hope and confidence.

PROVERBS 10:8-9

  • Often my mind just says, “The bible is simple. There’s no further explanation.” So, here are these verses in the ERV:  The wise accept instruction, but fools argue and bring trouble on themselves. Honest people can always feel secure, but lying cheaters will be caught. Proverbs 10:8-9. Be a person of integrity.

Feb 22nd:
LEVITICUS 13:1-59

  • This wasn’t a pleasant read.  It was all about infected skin and being ceremonially clean and/or unclean.  

MARK 6:1-29

  • So sad that those who had seen Jesus grow up, His hometown folks and even some family, refused to believe Him.  When people we know go on to do great things, we should rally around them and encourage them, not ignore or tear down or be envious of them.
  • Jesus was amazed at the unbelief of those who knew Him when He was young.  Sometimes when we know of someone we may not truly KNOW them. I pray that you don’t simply know of Christ, but truly KNOW Him.
  • All you can do is share Jesus with others.  It’s up to them to believe, repent, and turn to God.  Do your best to share and know you did your best.
  • Verse 20 reminds me that when we listen to sermons or others who may “call us out” for God’s sake, we may be distrurbed by what they say, but we listen and know they are right. 
  • Herrod’s scene with his daughter reminds us to be careful with your words…it may cost others their life.

PSALM 39:1-13

  • When people ask me how I’m doing, I often say “I can’t complain”.  These verse remind us that we need to be grateful for the life we have, and when we do want to complain take it to Jesus.  He’s got you and your life…show others how grateful you are by living your best life.
  • Life is short. Live.  Love big. Share Jesus with others. Know where you’re going when this life is over and live for it.

PROVERBS 10:10

  • Speak openly and honestly.  You can’t go wrong with the truth. (I honestly had to read this verse in six different translations to get the point.  They each seemed so different, yet the root of it was the same.)

Feb 23rd:
LEVITICUS 14:1-57

  • I’ve never noticed before the the Lord said, in verse 34, that He may contaminate some of the houses with mildew.  The Lord may do that. Why? Was it so that the people will have to trust in Him for their needs? Was it for some to experience the ceremonial cleansing of their home to remind them of the severity of the process when it is of ourselves and not a structure?  Who was chosen to have their home contaminated? A reminder that we don’t fully understand God’s ways. One day.

MARK 6:30-56

  • Needs…Jesus put his and the disciples need for food behind the need to share His love with others.  
  • When feeding the multitudes, Jesus knew to LOOK UP for help.  We need to look up to God for all our needs.
  • God provides for our needs.  We even get to have as much as we WANT of that need, and there is always plenty.  He is a gracious God.
  • Jesus needed to retreat alone to pray.  We should let that be an example to do as well.  Prayer is powerful. It is needed. Time alone chatting with God is refresher.

PSALM 40:1-10

  • God has done many wonderful things for you and His plans for you ahead are numerous.
  • Listen to God. How? Through His word, nature, songs, others, sermons, etc. LISTEN.  
  • Have God’s love written on your heart, and share it with others.  Don’t be afraid to talk about the faithfulness, saving power, and unfailing love of God to all.  Be bold for Him!

PROVERBS 10:11-12

  • Your speech can be life giving when you are godly. The wicked’s speech can be detrimental.
  • Love.  Love big.

Feb 24th:
LEVITICUS 15:1-16:28

  • Chapter 15…ceremony for bodily discharge and menstrual cycle and sex during the latter…enough said. 
  • See the photo of Old/New systems of Sacrifice from my study bible. 
  • Although these reading in Leviticus often seem redundant and I want to skim through them, I am reminded how when you are a child of God, you are set apart, there is something different about you.  We need to keep our hearts and minds in check with God and know how serious He is about us and how precious we are to Him.

MARK 7:1-23

  • Don’t’ just talk the talk, but walk the walk in love and with humbleness.  Don’t be a hypocrite. That is truly an unlikeable characteristic some Christians portray.
  • Here are a few things that Jesus says defiles you:  evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.

PSALM 40:11-17

  • David was often desperate, calling out to God for His faithfulness, saving power, and unfailing love.  
  • Search God and be filled with joy and gladness.

PROVERBS 10:13-14

  • Let’s just be advised here to be wise and not a babbling idiot.

Feb 25th:
LEVITICUS 16:29-18:30

  • Don’t live like the world, live the way God desires for you to live and you will find true life.
  • Serious sex talk in chapter 18.  This all seems like commone sense…sex with a family member, same sex (detestable), an animal (perverse), etc., but people needed clarification then, AND now.

MARK 7:24-8:10

  • The Lord speaks to you so that you can understand Him.  He meets people where they are.  

PSALM 41:1-13

  • Take joy in knowing that the Lord loves you and will protect you.
  • When you claim to be a friend to someone, be one. Be honest and kind.  Don’t gossip.
  • When you feel alone, adn friends have turned against you, remember that you have a Best Friend Who will never leave you…Jesus.

PROVERBS 10:15-16

  • Don’t let money rule you…rich or poor

Feb 26th:
LEVITICUS 19:1-20:21

  • In chapter 19 there are many don’ts, yet the Lord constantly reminds them that He is the Lord.  We will discover that when we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, all His rules aren’t so much of “don’t do this or that”, but “we get to” love, be loved, and show love.
  • When you are a child of God, you are set apart.  Live godly.

MARK 8:11-38

  • Let’s not be like the Pharisees and demand something miraculous from God to prove himself, when He has already done so much.  Keep your eyes open and embrace ALL the glory he provides daily.
  • Then, let’s be mindful as to not be like the disciples so often did and forget Who He is, the power He has, and how He provides for our EVERY need.  Wait…we probably are a lot like them at times. Guilty, right here. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and not forget all he has done and continues to do for us.
  • Pray for God to open your eyes, clearly and completely, to what all He has in store for you.
  • Don’t just know who others say Jesus is, know to know who He is on your own.
  • Jesus says that if you want to follow Him you must do three things:  turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Him.
  • If you are ashamed of Jesus and The Good News, He will be ashamed of you when He returns.  Advice…don’t be embarrassed of being a Christ follower. Be humbly proud.

PSALM 42:1-11

  • When I opened my bible, Psalm 42 has been underlined and circled before.  I had to reread this psalm in three different translations to give me more of a visual insight as to its meaning.  I’m gathering from it…crave for God. Life isn’t always going to be mountain tops of praising God. There will be times when we feel dry, disappointed, and surrounded by our enemies.  But, when those times come, we are to dive into God’s word even more, praise Him even more, and remember all the good he has done for us. Thirst for more of God. We may feel alone, but He is always with us.  Put your hope in God alone.

PROVERBS 10:17

  • It’s important to appreciate and accept discipline in life, it will lead to a good life.  When we ignore correction and think we know it all or have it all under control, we will find ourselves lost.  Be humble

Feb 27th:
Leviticus 20:22-22:16

  • When you are a child of God, you are set apart.  God tells us to be holy because He is holy.

Mark 9:1-29

  • Newsflash…Jesus is God’s Son.  God said so Himself. He instructs us to listen to Jesus.  So…let’s do it. 
  • Jesus explains how faith in God is important, and prayer is powerful and needed.

Psalm 43:1-5

  • I’m reminded that in life we will have disappointments and feel oppressed, but even in those times God is God.  His light and truth can and will guide us. He is our source of joy. We may not know why we go through the trials we do, and why God has allowed us to feel tossed about or grief stricken, but we must put our hope in God and God alone.

Proverbs 10:18

  • God does not want us to hate others.  He is a God of love. We need to confess our hatred to God and ask Him to change our heart.

Feb 28th:
LEVITICUS 22:17-23:44

  • Right away, I am reminded how when we confess our sins to the Lord, we are to be sincere, honest, and humble, not flippetly and with and “I’ll say this because I have to” attitude. Repent and learn.
  • God is holy.  Respect Him.
  • Notice how in all of God’s commands, everything presented to Him must be the best.  I pray that you will live out your life giving God your best in all you say and do. Live for God, not man.
  • Help those in need.
  • Don’t forget to rest.  Rest in Him. Deny yourself and live for God.
  • Celebrate the Lord with joy.

MARK 9:30-10:12

  • Jesus wanted some small group time with His disciples.  He laid out the plan and told them of what is to come, yet they didn’t understand.  They remained silent because they were afraid to ask him any questions. Being a teacher myself, i know that those who asked the questions when they didn’t understand, were usually the brightest.  They were bold and seeked for the answer. That is exactly what God wants us to do. Be bold, seek Him, ask Him questions. This will make you wise.
  • Be humble.  Serve.
  • You will be accountable for everything you do. Choose wisely.
  • Man and woman…that’s a marriage.  Period.

PSALM 44:1-8

  • The psalmist recognized that any victory in life, any crushing of the enemy, was not by their own power and might, but God’s. All glory to God.

PROVERBS 10:19

  • There’s a time to talk and a time to be quiet.  Know the difference. Be wise. Your mouth can get you into trouble.
