When I was a little girl, I was not big on reading. Dancing in the barn, singing in the yard, playing outside all day, playing school with my stuffed animals, and using my imagination in the many forts I had on our property…yes, these were the activities I enjoyed…reading, not so much.

There was a required children’s literature class I had in college. We had to name our favorite children’s book. I felt illiterate when I heard my classmates easily naming all these classic children’s books, and I couldn’t think of one. I’m sure my mom and teachers read these classic books to me at some point in my childhood, but my mind was blank. Rudolph, Humpty Dumpty, and Winnie the Pooh were the only ones that would came to mind.
From that moment on, I was determined to make reading a priority in my classroom and when I did have children.
Now, when I look back, or even read children’s books now, I can see that there is a lesson for all ages intertwined through the pages. THIS is exactly what I desire when people read The Right Road .
No matter the age or stage of someone’s life, I pray that they will be able to reminisce about some pleasantness from their childhood. We need to always remember the times in our lives when we noticed that God carried us through a difficult situation or delivered a mountain top experience to us. Remember those moments.

But you must honor the Lord. You must serve him sincerely with all your heart. Remember the wonderful things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24 ERV

It is a strong desire of mine for people to realize when reading The Right Road that we are faced with a choice each day…to follow our path or God’s path for our lives. When we go down our own path, although we may have the time of our life, it is temporary and there will often be much pain. When we choose God’s path, there may be pain at times, but because of Jesus Christ, we know that we have eternal joy and peace through any situation.

So listen, my son, and be wise. Always be careful to follow the right path. Proverbs 23:19 ERV

I pray that you will realize that even though you may have strayed for Christ, He is waiting with open arms to cradle and comfort you.
At the end of this children’s book there is a lesson, a bible verse, and a prayer.
The prayer says:

Thank you, Father, that Your arms are always here to cradle and comfort me.  Help me to stay on the right path by praying, reading, and practicing Your Word. Amen

Will you choose to stay on the Right Road?
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie

The featured photo is so special. The illustrations for the book were modeled after a photo session with my niece and great nephew, Calli and Wes. Thank you, Calli and Wes! This photo is one of my favorites! It is in our backyard. The cross was made from the picket fence that my late mom-in-love and her twin brother, Johnny, built around Tim’s childhood home. No, nothing is buried there, it is just a beautiful visual by our pond and is lit up at night.
