The wardrobe malfunction became an object lesson.

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11 NLT

I guess you could say I was bursting at the seam to get to church.

When I arrived at church, I bent over the console in my car to gather my bible and purse. It was then that I noticed that the clasp on my wrap dress had broken.

What was I to do? I had a choice of buckling up my seatbelt and heading home, or go on the search for a safety pin. I chose the latter.

So that I would expose my chest area, I walked with my bible held close to my heart.

Ladies searched their purses and even the Learning Center cabinets. There was not a safety pin in sight. Again…a choice had to be made. Was I going to walk straight to my car with my bible close to my heart covering the exposed area, or head into Sunday School and get fed with God’s word? And again…I chose the latter.

Leaving church that day, I told my friend, Jamie, that this scene gives a whole new meaning to keeping God’s Word close to your heart. We had a good laugh and walked away with a smile on our faces.

Lessons learned:

  • Always keep God’s Word close to your heart so that you will have scripture to lean on even in funny situations.
  • Keep a few safety pins handy for yourself and others.
  • Don’t let anyone or anything steal your joy and opportunity to hear God’s word.
  • We have choices in life. Choose wisely.
  • Laughter is good for the soul.

Have a wonderful day, and go purchase a box of safety pins.

Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
