While reading John 9:1-12, I couldn’t help but make the correlation to the simplicity yet “are you serious” thought of having a relationship with Jesus Christ.

When you begin a relationship with Christ, you simply have to believe and ask Him into your heart to be The Boss of your life. Simple. Bam. That’s it. But, really is that it? Well, you have to believe the “are you serious” part of He was born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, Jesus died for us having all our sins put on Him, He rose after three days, then Christ ascended into Heaven, and He will return again the same way some day. What? Are you kidding me? THAT really happened? Well…yes. God said so, and He doesn’t lie.

Okay, now read the verses then the correlation:

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” 3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. 4 We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.[a] The night is coming, and then no one can work. 5 But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. 7 He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing! 8 His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!” 10 They asked, “Who healed you? What happened?” 11 He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!” 12 “Where is he now?” they asked. “I don’t know,” he replied. John 9:1-12 NLT

  1. We are blind. (Numbers 24:1-4, 2 Kings 6:17, Luke 4:18, John 3:3) Like the man born with physical blindness, we have a spiritual blindness. Our sins blind us.
  2. We are told to do something simple, yet unbelievable. (John 14:1-2, Romans 10:10, John 6:35) Really? Jesus put mud clay on the man’s eyes, told him to go wash his eyes in a pool? Yep. Sounds crazy, but true.
  3. We believe and obey. (Deuteronomy 27:10, 1 John 5:3, Jeremiah 7:23, Luke 11:28) The blind man actually went and did what Jesus told him to do. When he obeyed the Lord, he could now see. We can see more clearly right from wrong when we look with the eyes of Christ.
  4. We are healed. (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24, Revelation 1:5) Here’s your cause and effect: because you chose to believe in Jesus Christ, you are healed. He took your pain and made you free.
  5. We are to go tell. (Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8) When you experience the change in your life because of Christ, you will want to share The Good News with others. I’ve heard the analogy used before that if you had a cure for cancer, wouldn’t you want to share it with others? Of course! This is the greatest prescription one can have to save their life. Go share.

Have a beautiful week. I pray that you will allow God to transform your life, and you will be filled with desire to live for Him and share His love with others.

Blessings to you and yours,

Stephanie
