Recently, I posed a question to many about what they would want to hear or read about next, as a focus topic, on soakingupTheSon.com.  I gave them two choices. The first choice came about while I was in the process of trying to take a power nap. The word “bed” came to mind and all the aspects of “bed” could be (and is) used in the Bible.  Whether it was for rest, marital sex, sin, or whatever term bed was used in the Bible. The second option was derived from simply reading God’s word and being intrigued by all the rich saying presented in Proverbs 22, and then in verses 17-20 it read, “Listen carefully to these words from the wise.  Pay attention to what I have learned. It will be good for you to remember these words and have them ready when they are needed.  I will teach you these things now. I want you to trust the Lord. I have written 30 sayings for you. These are words of advice and wisdom.  They will teach you things that you can know for sure to be true. Then you can give good answers to the one who sent you.”
I was in awe of knowing that the words I read in the previous verses were already stacked with a wealth of goodness and wisdom. Now…there are thirty more specifically set aside to share.  Wow!
So bed or wisdom?
A few people weighed in on their choice, and then God impressed upon me His vote.
The very next morning, my scripture for the day came from James 1:-6. It reads:
If any of you lack a wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
Well, okay, God.  Wisdom it is.
Excitement emerged within me, as I began diving into God’s word to dig deeper into the meaning of the first saying.  The pages of my bible, and the click of my computer button to read other verses in other translations and commentaries were being well used.  As I would read scripture, I became passionate and fascinated knowing that by me simply desiring to know more about God’s word is helping me to become more wise and knowledgeable about His instruction.
I hope that you will join me as I inspect these thirty wise saying, and see how God reveals to me how to apply them to our lives.
Much prayer is going into each study.  Please know that I’m no bible scholar, just a girl who loves Jesus and desires to know Him more.  God often reveals Himself and His teachings through various events or glances throughout the day. I have absolutely no idea what direction God will guide me in over the next few days, but I’m committed to growing in wisdom and sharing His love.
Are you with me? Jump into God’s wise words with me!
I would truly appreciate and love to hear any of your insights throughout this process.
Keep your God Goggles on, as you go about your day, and see how God will apply His word to your life.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
